I have purchased a ikea symfonisk bookshelf & wanted to know if I purchase a sonos play 1 sl will they connect & play music at the same time, or are they not compatible.

You can group any Sonos speakers together, and play the same music in sync. What you can’t do is make a stereo pair, and have the Symfonisk be a left speaker and the One be the right. For that, they need to be the same model.
