Can I use the app on my Android device, and Airplay on an iPhone at the same time? I have multiple speakers in my system, I would like to play content on one speaker using the app, my wife would like to play different content on another speaker using Airplay… at the same time. So far we can’t figure out how to make this work.

That’s odd, there shouldn’t be that disparity.
I would recommend that you submit a system diagnostic within 10 minutes of experiencing this problem, and call Sonos Support to discuss it. But don’t post the resulting diagnostic number here, they get sensitive about GDPR.
There may be information included in the diagnostic that will help Sonos pinpoint the issue and help you find a solution.
When you speak directly to the Support staff, they have tools at their disposal that will allow them to give you advice specific to your network and Sonos system.

Which SONOS players are you using?
You’ll have to pardon my ignorance on the terminology, but I guess I’m not exactly sure what you’re asking… One device is a Beam soundbar with an attached Subwoofer, the other is an older Play:5 speaker. On the Android device I’m using the new Sonos app (fully updated), on the iPhone it is Airplay.
Unless you are asking about the content service, which I wouldn’t guess would be an issue…
On your iPhone, airplay to the Beam. Your wife selects the Play:5 room and a streaming source (Sonos radio, Radioplayer etc) to play to it.
Yes, that’s what I would think…. but it’s not working. (I’m on the android, she’s on the iPhone, but that doesn’t matter). If I’m running the Sonos app on my phone, her Airplay isn’t finding the Sonos devices to select. Just seems like there is some type of conflict. If I’m not running the app, she can find the devices from Airplay and it works that way. It’s just when both are trying to work at the same time.
