Having recently finally upgraded my Android and desktops app to the latest releases, I feel that the ‘new’ S2 app is now nearly as functional as the ‘old’ S2 app. However, there are a few features that I valued before that don’t seem to be there. My question is, are any/all coming in future releases?

  1. The persistent notification I used to find really handy for quickly managing the sound and on/off, but now have to open the app, wait a few seconds and then get access to the relevant controls.
  2. If I am streaming radio, my ‘station of choice’ is BBC Radio 3 via BBC Sounds. On the desktop app this shows an image, either of show or music playing, but this is not seen on the app.
  3. Also when streaming BBC radio via BBC Sounds, clicking in the 3 dots (bottom right) there is an option to “Show in Sounds”. This used to open up the BBC Sounds app so that you could see more detail about the show currently playing (or look at schedules etc). At the moment clicking this simply returns you to the S2 display.
  4. If I am not streaming, but playing my own music from my NAS, if I have a playlist that includes tracks with different album art, the ‘new’ S2 app shows a grey/generic image. The ‘old’ S2 app used to show one image from the playlist. Not sure how this was selected, perhaps it was the 1st track, but it really does help to visually distinguish the various playlists when the playlist name that is visible is fairly limited.

This seems to be common for a lot of Sonos problems. If Sonos fix it, will it actually be fixed on my/your system? The answer atm seems to be maybe.

Not sure what you mean. I’m saying it works fine for me…
