This is an impressive update. Lots to go test, now that I’ve installed both the new iOS controller and the firmware!

You forget to mention the new iOS shortcuts.

I like the new ‘two finger’ volume control, useful when in a non volume tab, eg EQ settings. When will the EQ settings get the same upgrade as the volume slider, ie slide anywhere and haptics?

Agree with ​@craigski The two finger volume control is excellent and unexpected, not seen that implementation before. The extended use of swipe gestures is welcome too. Still playing around with the other updates. 

Again kudos to the dev teams, and the testers too.

This update turned EQ Shortcut on even though I had it turned off. It happened with both iOS and Android controllers.

Also, still checking out all the changes. So far this looks great.

I’m eager to start playing with the MCP, but Claude is telling me the mcp isn’t available in the directory yet.

Also, Gemini isn’t supported?  The Open House recap stated that it was.

In the system update release notes… This is great news.

• Sonos Move support for Sonos Line-In Adapter or Sonos Combo Adapter (requires latest version of the Sonos app).

Edit: The Move product guide has not been updated to reflect this.

If you start the gesture with ‘two fingers’ you can complete the gesture with ‘one finger’ 😀

ie start rotating with two, then use a single finger to continue rotating once the volume control appears.

Yes i found that too. This is such a well-executed feature, works as soon as you open the app for your default room and on any screen. No need return home or to the room screen to adjust volume.

We had a problem with the MCP connection earlier but it was resolved about 30 minutes ago. Try it again and let me know if you’re still not able to connect. 

Google Gemini support is coming but the big emphasis was on Anthropic/Claude and OpenAI/ChatGPT. Myself and a few other Gemini users at Sonos are waiting for more details on when Gemini is able to connect. I’ll share here when it goes live.

After seeing the “tap and rotate” to adjust the volume, I was confused for a bit. Didn't see it work. Figured it out…..You don’t tap, you “ touch and rotate “ to use the new adjustment. Difference between tapping and touching. 🤷🏻‍♂️

The novelty has worn off now, back to using 1 hand and thumb to change volume, rather than 2 hands and 2 fingers. Will still use (rarely) in EQ settings, where you may want to adjust volume at same time as EQ.

Been doing great on these updates since the debacle but one thing is still missing I wish would come back. When you have a room with a TV input device and it switched to TV input it erases the queue of music that was in there. Before the debacle versions it would keep the queue intact after watching TV. I really miss this because I listen to music and night and sometimes want to listen to the same queue I had the night before but don't want to clutter a ton of saved playlists.

Huh. I wasn’t aware of that, but I’ve always used my soundbar’s specifically for TV use. I wonder if it has to do with memory restraints with the newer OS changes, and the storage of previous states, since that isn’t stored on the controller…or wouldn’t be, IMHO. 

It used to work in the old S2 app. No longer…

The interesting part is that the queue is actually still there. You need a third party app or desktop controller to play it.

No the queue is there, it’s just the new Sonos app doesn’t display it. We know this because third party apps and Sonos desktop can access it and the new Sonos app will display it if a track is played by these other apps. 

Also the same issue occurs when playing a radio station on any speaker. Once the radio station stops playing there is no way in the Sonos App to re-start the loaded queue even though it is still there. In my case this happens when I have an alarm that plays a radio station. Once the alarm completes there is no path back to restarting the loaded queue from the App. The Sonos Windows App will let you restart the queue, as will numerous 3rd party Apps. It was always possible before the update debacle. Sonos replied to this question sometime ago, but said the current behaviour is ‘by design’. Pretty poor design in my opinion. 

When are you going to restore the view of album covers to a series of tiles rather than a list please?

Tried Claude for the first time yesterday.  Better than Shortcuts as far as content availability is concerned, but Shortcuts automations are a plus.  Guess if i want to improvise Claude would be the ticket.

Was that ever a thing in Sonos?  I don’t remember it. I do remember the Album scroll view in iTunes that was great but not Sonos. 
 

I’d like it to happen though. 

S1 mobile controller uses tiles, S2 controller uses lists.

For some reason Claude is not including Qobuz as an included service.  Anyone know why?

Two things:
When does all this roll to Android?  I have the current version and reordering services and the volume control are not implemented.  

More importantly, as noted above, please bring back the ability to resume a playlist when a radio station or TV input has been selected.  I can confirm, the list is still in there and easily accessible via the desktop app so please return this function to the app.

It’s not clear in the OP that most of these are iOS only at this point. It is listed as such in the release notes. Hopefully these come to the Android app soon.

Release notes - Sonos app updates

This:

• Album and artist info - Easily access Artist and Album pages by tapping on Now Playing content metadata.

When playing from a Music Library, this only shows “Go to” album. No “Go to” artist. It would be great if it did. I would much more often want to quickly get to the artist, not the album I’m already listening to.

this is pretty awesome, worked with codex and played with it a little today.

It’d be great if we could send playlists to the mcp, select which apple music (or any other service) account to use if you have multiple accounts, support Tidal, maybe get a track end or some sort of notification (although I understand why it doesn’t do it, I guess I could check the time length of the track before sending it), and the ability to queue songs.

I’m sure there’s more, but I’ve only played with it for a couple of hours.
