Sonos have neglected to include an alarm function in the app update as of 9th May 2024. very disappointed. Also a number of music services have been affected. I am sure this is an oversight - but with no communication from Sonos or announcement, it does not build confidence. Also - to cut off older systems and speakers is terribly bad form. Hopefully the Sonos event on the 14th will have everything resolved? Can we get some reassurance from Sonos customer service please?

I agree, this update has sent the system backwards. Worst update ever that I can’t undo now.

Maybe use the voice services available on your Sonos Roam, as listed in your profile, to set the Alarm for you instead on that speaker, but keep your phone set aswell, just as a backup, until the issue is resolved in a week from now, as announced.

Your profile also lists S1 devices - so maybe set an alarm on those using the S1 App - you could also use the desktop controller App to enable/disable an alarm on any of your Sonos speakers.

Hooray, just downloaded the update and the "new" app now has alarm control.

Look under the gear wheel at the top then Manage System.

Already done that, it’s shoddy at best

Hi, on which device have you done this? No change on my iPhone 😔

OMG.  So my 6 year old son asked me last week to set an alarm for him at 6am to wake up so he can play games with his friends.  He normally doesn’t wake up until 7:30.  We stopped that!  Except we didn’t.  The alarm went off blaring this morning.  Didn’t wake him up, but it certainly woke me up.  And then I couldn’t find the damn alarm in the new app to delete it.  So now I guess we just wake up at 6am on Mondays and Tuesday and Wednesdays until they fix it?!

It’s not there for me

The Alarm feature was in the new Sonos App on initial release, but it got pulled - I guess an issue was perhaps found that needed addressing. I think it’s scheduled to return in a week, or so, though.🤞It’s probably going through testing as we type.

I’m presuming that @Noosta’s iPhone has not been updated, perhaps 🤔?

Users here and Reddit are reporting no alarms despite updating firmware and app, unfortunately. I don’t have them either.

You might need to perhaps run the update from the App Store (v80.00.08) - that’s what I did and alarms are now showing here, but distribution to some App stores may take a short time too. Not sure if this applies to Android either, as I’ve not (yet) checked that.

Everything is updated. Firmware and app. The only constant with this buggy POS app is experiences will vary.

Some instructions (copied/pasted below) from the AMA to get Sonos Alarms working …

You can have Alarm Settings back right now!

  1. Update your app to:
    1. iOS: 80.00.08 - available now in the App Store
    2. Android: 80.00.05 - available now in the Play Store
  2. Update your firmware to 79.0-52294 - available now via the Sonos App:
    1. Tap the settings gear in the top right
    2. Select “Manage” next to your system name
    3. Select System Updates
    4. Select Check for Updates
  3. Launch the Sonos app twice in order to guarantee we fetch the latest feature flags:
    1. Start the Sonos app
    2. Force quit the app
    3. Start the Sonos app again

My username says it all. I need an alarm clock. I think this is the worst update of any app service ever made. It is horrible. I want to get rid of Sonos but the speakers aren't even worth a quarter of what they cost. Sonos doesn't read the community remarks. I want to get another sound system. Anyone have any recommendations

The alarm function is back on iOS, though it still doesn’t work properly. I’ve set it to 7:30 in the morning, but it started the music at 9:30. They messed up something with timezones. It used to work before.

Similarly, set mine to wake up at 8am, alarm went off at 3 am

Ken_Griffiths

Just a thought🤔 …If Alarm times are incorrect, maybe check the Country settings in your Sonos online profile and ensure those details are correct.
