A few users have asked after an SSD-only NAS and I’ve commented that such a thing does not exist in the consumer space. I was mistaken. Voilà, the Asustor Flashstor 5 model FS6706T!https://www.asustor.com/en/product?p_id=79 Barebones unit is $450 and accepts up to six SSDs. Add 4TB M.2 PCIe 3 SSDs for about $225 a pop.
Let's talk about how much Sonos sucks
My app and system are acting horribly since that last disastrous upgrade. I just need to vent. When will this get corrected?
I own a residential systems integration firm and have been selling and installing Sonos as our main distributed audio product for the past 12 years. My field techs are no longer table to activate new product in less than 45 minutes per device, involving 4 to 6 resets. Tech support is abysmal, rarely are they able to diagnose our fix any of the issues we are currently encountering. We have several large projects coming up with Sonos product, if Sonos’ doesn’t get this fixed we will explore alternatives for future installations.Additionally, we are fielding a multitude of service calls from existing clients having similar issues.
My AMP is trying to update (I think - the white light is blinking) but never finishes. Then I must unplug the power and plug it in again after a while, then it sometimes work again. But the whole show starts again after a few days. What can I do?
The new app is still crap.. Takes 10/15mins to change volume in different rooms./change choose songs.. Great speakers but we have absolutely no control of them.. without the app... I will never spend a single cent, dollar or Franc or euro and another Sonos product as They have proved they want to control you.. When I want to play a song I will just do it.. I had my reservations from the get go but was convinced to relax.. I was 100% right from the start.. When you allow others to have control over your system with no back door control your truly * !! I’ve read AV Forum posts about “Works with Sonos” doesn’t work when a Sonos network reaches 6 devices. In effect, if a customer has architectural speakers as surrounds in multiple locations in their residence, having a like number of Sonos Ports along with Sonos Speakers (Arc, Beam, Era 300s, Subs) , any number of devices 6 or greater creates “No Longer Works with Sonos”.As there are multiple AVR vendors who have “Works with Sonos” certification, are they all affected by this issue? Technically, what is the issue? Is it a Sonos/App/Networking issue? Is it an AVR vendor issue? Is Sonos working with these AVR vendors to resolve?
Sonos won’t add my sub and arc to my Sonos account even after multiple factory resets.
Good morning from the UK. I had an email from the CEO of Sonos who was apologising to Sonos customers for the poor performance of the latest Sonos S2 update. There was a personal invite to contact him, including his direct email address. Why oh why did I get a reply from noreply@salesforce.com? I spent quite some time constructing my email which I believe would offer some sound advice on how things at Sonos could improve. The reply I had is like marking your own homework. I'm being realistic here, as I know that the CEO will be inundated with emails from disgruntled Sonos customers, but don't put out your email address and get someone else to respond based on their own thoughts. I want to get through the Organ grinder, not the monkey. I am not suggesting employees at Sonos are monkeys, it's just an analogy to get to the top.
What happened to this company? I own 8 Sonos devices and nothing works. Customer service is no less than an hour’s wait. Need to find a new provider. Any suggestions which may allow me to keep my equipment?
I’ll admit I have some older units. But ran audio to the Line in on my connect in the basement to play down there and it immediately started playing on my playbar upstairs interrupting the tv audio. Eventually got it all separated but not for more than 5 minutes and it switched again. Combo of older equipment and new app?
I’m posting this in hopes of saving someone else from the hours of frustration I’ve endured to resolve this issue. From the time I set-up my Arc + Sub + Surrounds system in July with an Asus RT-AC88U router (connected to Fios Gigabit internet) it has worked without issue. I’ve used Asus Smart Connect with all settings at default. No problems with the S2 app and no problems when I upgraded to an iPhone 12, other than the loss of Trueplay support, which continues to be a problem. (HELLO Sonos! Anyone home?)Then I recently upgraded to the RT-AX86U using same Smart Connect default settings and, initially, all seemed fine. But soon the dropped connections started. I’d reboot and the Sonos system would connect for 10-30 minutes, then lose wifi connection again. Meanwhile, all other wifi devices in my home worked just fine--the Sonos was the only problem child. I did all the troubleshooting I could, then called into Sonos support and spent almost 2 hours with a tech rep trying every potential
Hey all, I have looked at everything I can about Ubiquiti and Sonos, but continue to run into issues. Here is my setup: Sonos AMP hardwired to a USW-Lite 16 PoE into a USW-24-POE- into a Dream Machine. I have everything set to STP. I am able to get an IP address to the Sonos and it shows up in the topology map. When I try to configure the AMP, I get to the point where it says push the connect button on the back and it just never responds. I set up a different very dumb network and did the same thing and had no issues so obviously the ubiquity is the problem but I don’t know where to go from here. Can any of you advise?
Sonos customer service is one of the worst I have experience. I don't know what has cause the decline .I have had issues 6 weeks with my sonos amp and outdoor architectural speakers.Anytime I try to call it's min 60 mins hold. Then I spent 2 hrs trouble shouting. They replaced the amp. Took 2 week to get this and still didnt fix it. Had to call again 80 min hold this time. Spent another 2 hours on the phone and was told it's the speakers and I should never been told it was an amp issue. It's been 2 weeks since this call. After a week of failed attempts to use rhe advance option to ship new replacement speakers I am now told that the 5 business days shipping is change to 6 weeks. They don't care about customers. I have spent over 10,000$ on Sonos products and I am beginning to regret this because of the terrible after service
Hi! I have a Sonos Port connected via ethernet cable, an older 2nd gen Sonos Connect, connected via ethernet cable (and wireless?), two Sonos Play 1 speakers (as a stereo pair) connected via wifi. I had everything setup and working on my network as described above. For the Connect, I had set it up on wifi and then later plugged in an ethernet cable to it. I don’t think I ever did anything to the config after plugging in the cable. Then, I replaced all of my networking equipment - routers, switches and APs. All new IP address and wifi SSIDs and passwords. I didn’t make any changes to the Sonos devices, yet all were found by the app and are working perfectly. I can understand why the Port and Connect would do this - since my phone and computer are on the same network, but how did the Play 1 stereo pair move to the new network?? I never intervened to change the SSID / password on them. Just curious how this happened? My router sees all the devices and has assigned them DHCP addresses as f
The new Sonos app installed on 5/08/24 is absolute garbage. Garbage defined:1 - when the app launches it is unable to connect to the home system I've been running for 9 years.2 - to connect to the existing home system, I'm forced to logout, login 2x to actually connect.3 - rebooting the Sonos home system doesn't resolve the above.4 - reinstalling the Sonos app does not change the experience above I'm working from a Pixel 8 Pro for any pixel users out there.Sonos engineering team: you are slippin. I have hard wired speakers using Sonos Amp hard wired through a netgear switch. My house is wired in every room to this router centrally. The music cuts out for up to 10 seconds at a time often enough to become a big problem. I have already disabled WiFi and rebooted my hardware including the amp's.
I have a large, open space, living and kitchen area with 6 Sonos Architectural ceiling speakers connected to a Sonos Amp. I’m curious how some would recommend I wire them for the best sound. The room is a large rectangle. With L being the left channel and R being right, what would you do?LLLRRR orLRLRLR
Simple enough question but I can’t find the answer in other threads. I just purchased a Sonos Amp with the intention of running two sets of speakers in different rooms. When speaking with the sales people, somehow this intention was lost. The sales folks say I can run the two pairs of speakers into the same banana plugs to drive both sets. However, they noted to check impedance of the speakers. One set is 8 ohms and the other 6 ohms. Is it safe to run these two sets of speakers on the Amp?
So, I noticed today, looking the odd volume control issues I’m having, that some of my Ports had been set to Pass-Through rather than Fixed. I didn’t do it, so it must be some glitch from recent firmware updates. These things have been fixed since forever. So, Heads UP! Check your fixed volume components to make sure they still are FIXED!And no, this won’t solve the laggy volume control response from the app unfortunately.
I lost the Rooms that show the patio speakers
I recently had outdoor speakers installed professionally. I have the TP-Link Deco XE75 AXE4500 Mesh network. The speakers run off of a Sonos Amp. I have tried to connect the amp to the Wifi, and the person who installed the system has also tried it. Neither of us have been able to get it to work. I have even hard-wired the amp to see if that works. The tech who installed it had an Eero router, which connected immediately with no issue. Are there connectivity issues with TP-Link routers? Has anyone else had this issue or know how to fix it?
Another just reference point. Bought an amp for my outdoor speakers. Sonos does not include their custom banana plugs in the box with the amp. They provide you with a 3 foot long cord with banana plugs on both ends? Completely useless. Again compared to Bose experience, that had all kinds of plugs to help with the project. Again, not very consumer freindly. Just paid $19 more for the bananna plugs and $25 to over night them. Just waiting for the next problem!
As a Pro level home AV integrator, I am getting flooded with customers who now have lost, settings, playlists, and what was working well, now is forcing customers and myself to either Upgrade the iOS and Device or Operating system itself, or get a new device that can be upgraded with a newer OS so that the New 80 version can be used!! Are you freaking kidding me! So, as a Pro integrator, ALL of my new builds will now be using the WiiM streamers and Amps! High Res Audio. Software should ALWAYS be backward compatible!! Always! This way you are not forcing anything. The user might lose a few new features, but their system will work as it always has. And I can live without getting slapped again by a simple Audio streaming platform. Plus I have found the new WiiM home streamers to sound incredible. I am not a WiiM employee or am associated with the company in ANY level, I build from scratch multimillion dollar custom homes from Pre-wire, to full networking and AV. and going forward, I’m p
