We are building a new home and are looking for pre-wire and configuration advice. The great room will have a TV in the Media Alcove and we hope to have Surround sound in that room. We also hope to have music in the dining and kitchen areas. We will also have a TV and sound in the Den. I currently own Sonos and have had a it configured using an ARC, One (surrounds), and Sub in one zone, and a pair of Fives in the kitchen in a separate zone. This has worked nicely. For this house we envision the following use - 1. Great Room - Surround for TV and sometimes streaming music 2. Kitchen and Dining - streaming music 3. Den - Surround for TV and sometimes streaming music 4. Outside under covered patio - streaming music Great Room - ARC and two surrounds in ceiling with AMP OR 5 speakers in ceiling configured for 5:1 with no ARC. Understand that we need an AMP for in ceiling speakers. Kitchen and Dining - 2 speakers each, or will one pair suffice for the space For Den, we intend on using exi
In hopes of saving someone hours of their time - got 2 new routers this weekend. The router supplied by Spectrum is called Sagecom. Everything at home connected to it except my paired sonos one speakers. It turns out that Sagecom broadcasts 2.4 ghz and 5 ghz but you cannot select one or the other. Apparently Sonos one speakers need 2.4 ghz and therefore this router is not compatible. I bought a Netgear Nighthawk AX2400 (RAX30) router to replace the Sagecom. Still couldn’t get the sonos app to connect to the wifi. Spent 1.5 hrs on phone with Spectrum’s technical support and made many changes to router’s settings (unclick AX functionality, select 2.4 ghz, select channel 11 instead of auto, security encryption change, others). However, nothing changed. I did a factory settings reset on the 2 sonos one speakers and then returned to sonos app and created a new system and location. It found the speakers and then sonos was able to log on to the new wifi SSID. What an ordeal! I don’
I need help to connect my sonos port to my denon amp with RCA cable to play FM from my amp I am not possible to do it need any one who can help
I have Sonos system with fairly old (S1) components (ZPs, Play5s). It was working quite well with the legacy Sonosnet. I have had a proper Aruba network installed (instant Access Points not the Instant On, with Instant OS 8.6.15) to provide full coverage in the (fairly large full of reinforced concrete) house. So that I have proper WiFi access now (measured, calibrated, etc) stable 2.4 and 5 GHz reception all across. I decided to switch the Sonos system to WiFi mode. I am experiencing quite a few issues: * Stability of controllers is very poor now (dropping, not connecting without restart, etc) * Some device refuses to connect simply (got IP, but does not start broadcasting advertising itself, hence the other boxes and the controllers cannot see it) * Spotify no longer able to stream from the app to the Sonos system directly (you need to search start on the Sonos controller) Should I accept the advice of support that (at least with these old boxes) the Sonosnet is far more reliable t
Is there a way to run 2 line in RCA inputs into one Port?I currently have a Connect which I use to to feed into my audio system in the living room. I’ve got multiple devices connected to my B&O amp through an Inday Toslink / Coax switch. It all works fine but it leaves my TV out of the Sonos EcoSystem. The Chain looks like this:BT DAC Receiver > Connect > Inday Switch ch 1 > DAC > B&O This covers all the music and streaming I need then I can group the 5 other zones With this set up, TV is out of the MIX and I dont need a sound bar TV > Inday ch 2 > DAC > B&O This works for TV sound in living room but I cant stream it to the other ZonesSo here’s the question I just ordered 2 Ports. One to replace the connect and the other to feed the TV into that would then go to Inday Switch channel 3 over the DAC and B&O in this way I could group the TV port into the other zones when wanted. So my ultimate question is this the best way to go or could I som
Hi folks,My S1 bridge has completely packed in. No lights or any signs of life. I've checked all the obvious but to no avail. Any feedback would be brilliant. Thank you all.
For 2.5 years, my Sonos subwoofer has worked flawlessly. In the past month, every few days it loses the connection to my Sonos Amp. The mobile app shows "Updating" for days next to the Sub, and shows "Unused", meaning not connected to the Amp any longer. The only way to restore it is to do a factory reset on the Sub and add it again to the Amp.Nothing has changed with my hardware setup -- Amp with Sub, Netgear Nighthawk 7000 router with Netgear Nighthawk EX7000 extender which the Amp and Sub are connected to. I have not moved any devices (amp, sub, router, extender). I have not updated software on any devices, though the Amp and/or Sub may have been automatically updated, don't know.I have spoken twice with Sono's tech support, and they just have me do the factory reset. During the call with the second tech, she had me move the Sub closer to the Amp and turn off the Netgear extender. Of course, it works, but that's most likely due to the factory reset. Again, everything was wor
I could use some clarity on what Sonos are doing in regard to gathering metrics and stats on what I use my system for.Firstly my problem - For some weird reason my Spotify account became completely unlinked from Sonos so nothing would play through my speakers. I went into the app and re-added the account but still, nothing would play. The symptoms are the Spotify system would sit on “connecting” when I asked it to play through the SONOS, eventually timing out, or, the SONOS app would attempt to play a song and throw an error about the connection to Spotify being “lost”.I run a “PiHole” DNS sinkhole on my home network to prevent unncessicary connections from my IoT devices “phoning home” to send my usage data to various providers (Samsung, Philips Hue, Amazon, Sonos etc).I have not been prompted, asked, warned or given any consent for this data to be collected, gathered or sent back to any vendor simply to be able to use their products. Fairly sure there are opt-in laws in Europe about t
I have a Audio Technica LP60XBK turntable that is connected to Sonos Port. The pre-amplifier switch is set to LINE on the turntable. When I play a vinyl on the turntable, the sound output on my Sonos ARC, with sub and two play one's are too low. In the Sonos app, I did try setting the "Source Level" under Sonos port settings from all the way from Level 1 to Level 10. Level 1, basically nothing can be heard and Level 10 is as though set on low volume.Do not know what else to check and if there is an issue with port or turntable.Any help would be appreciated!

Hi - I’ve got 12 Sonos AMP hardwired to various in-wall and ceiling speakers thoughout the house and exterior. It seems silly to have them all on 24/7. I’d like to plug them into a managed power supply on a timer which would effectively “pull the plug” on them at 10:00 PM and plug them in again at 8:00 AM.Question: Is there some sort of sleep function I’m missing which would make this unnecessary?Question: Is there any reason why this sort of repeated powering down would be harder on the units than turning them on and off with the power button?
Hello.I have a question because I could not understand it well after reading the user guide.I currently have a USB DAC and a power amp connected with RCA cables.I would like to connect the SONOS Port between the USB DAC and the power amp with RCA cables so that when playing from the SONOS app, the volume is controlled by the SONOS app, and when playing from the USB DAC, the SONOS Port on the USB DAC side will reflect (not change) the volume .Is this possible by setting it to pass-through?
Hi everybody!I wanted to share something about my Sub. Yesterday my wife, while in the kitchen, decided to kill a insect on a vaulted ceiling using a two pound flour bag. Little that she knew, the bag bursted (just a tiny split, not all the way) and some of the flour got on the top of my Sub Gen2 and around it. I did not see anything in the Sub. After I experienced a tiny stroke :-), I grabbed the vacuum cleaner and cleaned the mess. Then I’ve put Master and Commander, Sub setting plus 10 and told my kids to go into their room. We did laugh about it how a split second moment of anger or simply not thinking things through could give you some not needed work. Now for the serious part.Do you think anything could have happen? How is the Sub constructed, Where is the opening (besides the obvious rectangular one)? Do you think that flour can compare to dust in consistency and the ability to enter the SUB? Is it wise to turn the Sub upside down and try to shake it or vacuum some more? P.S. My
I would like to revive a discussion , now closed:Specifically, it concerns how the S2 app responds to an S1 device on a separate network. My S2 network consists of two Fives (stereo pair) and a One, connected via wi-fi. There is also a separate Play:5 (first generation) hardwired via Ethernet and accessible via S1.Sometimes -- depending on my location in the house, my S2 app ‘sees’ the Play:5 device first. Quoting from the original post:I invoke S2 and get the message Sonos found on <my network name>. This system includes products that aren’t compatible with Sonos S2. (In other words, it’s found my S1 system first.) My options are (a) Open S1 controller or (b) More options Do I want to open the S1 controller? Nope. I’m in S2 and want to get to S2. So that leaves More options.Let’s examine those options. There are basically two:Forget Current Sonos System. Does this mean forget the S1 system (which the S2 app has just found) or the S2 system (because I’m in the S2 app)? If the lat
If I buy anything new my old Sonos wont work. I’m done with this company…
On the Move speaker, I press and hold down the power button until the Move completely powers off and I hear the tone.. I then leave it overnight, powered off and removed form the charger. The next day I switch it back on again and the battery level on the app has decreased by about 5%. This drop in battery power happens every day the move is switched off This should not be happening if the Move is powered down. I returned the Move and was given a new speaker and yet again this is still happening. Has anyone else experienced this issue?
Sonos port on LAN via Cat6, feeding JBL commercial CSA 180Z 70v amplifier via RCA cables.Occasionally after some time, 1-2 weeks, the zone goes from clear and sounding great to noticeably distorted/static sounding, usually after listening for a decent amount of time, ~4-6 hours. It’s independent of streaming source, which is usually Spotify or XM. After power cycling the system it sounds fine again. Is there any way to prevent this as its in a commercial setup. Factory reset? Is there a way I can schedule a reboot of the device?
One of many nights coming home wanting to continue what I’m hearing in my car. Sonos completely and totally sucks. They’re it is. I just spent 45 minutes plus trying to figure out how to take what I was just listening to on my iPhone into the home environment. No Bueno. System trying to find itself in my Wi-Fi net work… Who knows. When I fire up my TV all is good yet it fails to recognize me on my phone to listen to music and I am over it. Sonos completely and utterly sucks when it comes to just getting the job done as a music source
My equipment: Philips Television 32PFL7486H/12 with Sonos Gen2 Soundbar and Dual 491 pick-up with integrated amplifier (RIAA correction) and analog RCA connections.Sonos is connected to TV with HDMI (Arc). My question is: How can I use The soundbar to play the music coming from the Dual record player? The TV has no seperate anlog input. It only has VGA or DVI connections. The scart connection is used for our CD player. Is a converter available on the market to support only analog input on a VGA or DVI connection?
So i’m considering attempting the sonosnet setup for my system. my understanding is that all i need to do is connect a speaker directly to my router, and sonos knows what to do. I’ve read that a private 2.4gz network will be created for the sonos speakers to connect to (even though i have 2.4gz disabled on my router). My question is this….I want to keep my 2.4gz disabled to utilize the speeds i get from my new wifi 6 setup. but i do have one device (garage door) that i would like to be able to connect to my system (and it only connects with 2.4gz). is there a way to utilize the 2.4gz wifi band that sonos has created for itself for other devices outside the sonos ecosystem?…..if so, i could keep 2.4 disabled, but still have the devices that require 2.4 to still connect….. please advise.thanks…GG
I had a Sonos arc connected to my wifi before. I am trying to add a sub and 2 more Sonos amps to power the in ceiling Sonos speakers. When I add the new devices, they go through the set up process, but right before being added to the wifi network, they throw an error something like, “The device was added to network. But it may not show up in system. Try add product to continue”. But I wont be able to add them. After trying factory reset around 50 times, I was able to add 1 more amp into the system. But no luck with sub and the other amp. I have a Google Nest Mesh router which is connected to Verizon Fios Router(which is in Bridge mode). When I looked up the devices connected to routers. The devices show up in the sonos amp have an ip in the format 192.168.1.**. But the devices that dont show up in the Sonos amp are only found in Google Home router page with ip address in the format of 192.168.86.**.I spent over 2 hours with customer care already. They did nothing but factory reset facto
Good afernoon. What happens if I install an external Full MQA DAC between the Sonos Port and the receiver, would the DAC perform the last stage of decompression or would I still be limited to the maximum Sonos sampling frequency which is 48 kHz?
I just got my Pro-Ject’s DC, set it up as per the instructions from Sonos included in the box. But the Turntable has a grounding wire and unlike a traditional phono preamp, the Sonos Port does not have one. Do I connect it at just the turntable? Connect it at neither end? Or is the grounding perhaps taken care of via the built in pre-amp?
I understand Sonos’s radio stations are actually using TuneIn. Is there any advantage in playing a Sonos station when it are also available on TuneIn? Are there more features or is there better stability?
New to Sonos. Unable to make this combination connect and play. Have tried both Sonos Apps: “Sonos S1” & “Sonos” and am getting conflicting error information. The Onkyo website says this receiver is compatible with the Sonos Connect hardware. I have tried the various help pages with no luck. Is this interface possible? I want to play music to 3 Play:1 speakers over wi-fi.
