Let's talk about Sonos Connect, Connect:AMP, Sonos AMP, and setups using Sonance architectural, or your own speakers and components.

Hi Guys, I like turning up the volume when i'm home alone, listening to a favorite album or just getting excited over some new music. But I also recieve a lot of phonecalls during the day, which usually has me running head-less around to, either, get to the "pause" button on my sonos-player, or fumbling with my phone to access the Sonos app and mute the sound( sometimes resulting in missing the call). So here's my suggestion. Why don't you incorporate an automatic mute or pause function of the music playing, when there is an incoming call on the device, last used as a sonos-controller? I think that would be awesome!
Hi When using turntable to stream across wifi I have to use uncompressed on line in settings, compressed drops out But was wondering does this have an affect on the line out source of the connect I.e turntable into connect , connect into amp Fergin
Bought a Beam, Sub and Two sonos Ones today. The Beam is loud and crystal clear. I was worried it was going to be not powerful enough. The sound with the Sub and Beam alone is incredible. The clarity for music is amazing. It has a fuller field than my Denon Receiver, 3 Orbs and sub. I hooked it up to my older Sony Bravia 46” LCD TV via HDMI Arc tried out Netflix via chromecast into one of the HDMI ports on the TV. I think it’s coming through in stereo based on the Netflix app telling me the movies are in stereo. Still sounds good so I am not sure what I am actually getting. I think once I move this to the basement with my new TV and native Netflix app it may be even better-not sure though-I am not very techy. The two Sonos One’s I have upstairs as a separate room for now. Different music in each room is amazing flexibility. Overall very happy with what I have bought so far and the setup was awesome/easy. I find home theatre/receivers too complicated and appreciate the Sonos so
I recently purchased Sonos and Netgear Orbi. I had a sonos play:1 hooked up wirelessly via my airport extreme for a few days and it worked flawlessly. Once I received my Orbi, I hooked up my connect and wired to one of the orbi satellites. Since then I've had issues with sonos. I believe at least one orbi satellite is defective as it is creating all kinds of issues. I've also found this topic on netgear forums: https://community.netgear.com/t5/Orbi/SONOS-Compatability-with-Orbi/m-p/1183437/highlight/false#M1644 Anything I can do to test/prove this? I'm happy to try another Wifi product if orbi is the problem, but I'd rather not do a return re-purchase cycle unless I'm sure Sonos has problems with Orbi. I'm thinking eero or google wifi (already ordered a google wifi for my mom for christmas and she is also getting sonos so we will see how that goes). FYI: I love Sonos, I will try eero and google wifi and maybe luma before giving up Sonos. 😉 However, as a technology w
Hello - The speaker terminal port of my connect:amp broke off this past weekend. I can replace it on my own (I have experience building amplifiers) but I do not know how to disassemble the connect:amp housing. I cannot locate any screws on the bottom of the unit. Can anyone provide a guide or set of instructions to open the amp housing, without damaging? Thanks! ABaur
I have recently established a fiber connection through the Danish provider Waoo. The fiber is great and stable. However, I often find that my Play5s (gen. 2) drop out of the Sonos network. I have to install the speaker again, which feels ridiculous. I was therefore thinking that perhaps a Sonos Boost might help. BUT I want to make sure that I can connect the Boost to an AirTies 4920. Any one who knows?
Is it possible to buy two of the new Sonos Amps and run each as a mono block, one driving the left speaker and one driving the right speaker? This is exactly what I do with my current (non Sonos) configuration. I have a single digital preamp, I use a Sonos Connect for Sonos music streaming, then I drive two monoblock power amps one for each speaker. I would like to replace this configuration with the Sonos Amp but my small speakers in a very large room need a lot of driving.
I have recently purchased Sonos Beam and now my chromecast is dropping out when using different streaming apps (is Netflix and Kayo) when I disconnect beam from hdmi arc this stops the chromecast from dropping out. Sort of defeats the purpose of having the beam though lol. Any ideas???
Hi all, Any suggestions to over come my issue, I use a connect, and connect a dj-mixer on line-in to play the sound to my Sonos system. The problem is that the connect gives a quite big delay in the sound stream, that it not appreciated when being the house dj. And the delay increases when I start to group different zones. Any suggestions to minimize that delay ?? I can't understand the delay, due to when you have the playbar, sub and surround speakers, there is "no" delay (noticeable) in the sound stream from the TV (delay have not been adjusted in TV) . So obviously the equipment can handle it without that noticeable big delay... Caio! /B
Hello! I am hoping you can help! My husband and I have just purchased a new smart tv with sonos speakers. We have the play bar in the living room and a second speaker in the kitchen (we live in Manhattan - small space, open concept). The sound is great. However, I'm having a problem. I need to be able to hook up the wireless speakers to my computer. The one big function I need is for the speakers to be able to hook up to my laptop and play whatever I need played from my browser. There has GOT to be a way to do this very basic thing - using the wireless speakers as better/louder speakers for my laptop. I take a lot of classes online and need to be able to listen to my lectures while cooking dinner, etc. This is non-negotiable, and it's a very basic request so I don't know why I can't do it. The tech said it wasn't possible, but it MUST be. I looked for a browser to add to the app so that I could go through that way, but no dice. While I know that I can technically go online throug
Just got the new Apple TV, and the possibility for apps are fantastic. I can see my TV moving towards a hone center. My question is, if anyone else feels the urge for a Sonos app for Apple TV? I would love one!
I recently purchased a pair of 3M Peltor Comtac III hearing defenders, a high quality set of electronic hearing protectors. For those who don't know what that is, they are hearing protection with microphones and when there is loud noise they block it out, but having conversations when quiet is easy. They unfortunately pick up static interference in the electronics when near my Sonos speakers. My Play:5 has it from the furthest away, the Play:1 I have to be pretty close. If I turn my head the static is always louder in the ear closest to the speaker. I suspect it is somehow affecting the amplifier in the headset. While this isn't a huge deal in real life, I enjoy my Sonos and also this excellent ear pro, but it is concerning that these Sonos speakers are obviously emitting something they shouldn't be. I cannot reproduce it on the headset with any other audio equipment I have, wifi APs, computers, radios etc. Maybe this is something your engineers can look at for future revisions.
So I originally started with my turntable hooked up to a connect and 2 powered speakers. Had an issue with the connect so I returned it and ended up going with a play 5. I feel like my turntable does not sound near a good through the line in on the play 5 as it did running through the connect. Is this just in my mind? I was thinking about possibly returning the play 5 and going with the new amp and a couple of passive klipsch speakers. Would the sound quality be any better on the new amp in this setup vs the connect. Would either option sound better than running it through the play 5?
I have been wondering for a few years now. Will there ever be a new Sonos Connect? Something comparable to the Bluesound Node 2 in sound quality and design. The Connect seems so hopelesly outdated.
New hardware idea: I would love an attractive, wireless physical volume knob that could be wall mounted with screws, or just attached to a piece of furniture with double sided tape. The knob would be configured to control volume on one or more locations. For instance, I have ceiling speakers in the bathroom. Would be nice to crank the volume or mute it with this hardware.
Hello all - I know the AMP is new, so I'm hoping someone can help here. I don't know if I have things set up optimally, so please bare with me as I describe my setup and issues. Current Room Setups - multiple Sonos One's thoughout the house (dining, kitchen, bathroom, and Beam+Sub in bedroom. Room in Question - Living Room - 2 Play 5's functioning as L/R channel pair, plus 1 Sub - 1 New AMP as Line In Selector for: - 1 ARC from TV - 1 Line input from Record player (not yet connected) - Note* I'm not using the AMP for any traditional speakers, so nothing is hooked up to the banana plugs Configuration: - I created a "room" for the Play 5's and the Sub, and a separate room for the AMP. I did not find anyway to add to Play 5's as Stereo mains in the AMP setup, only configurable as surrounds or a sub. Due to this, I'm playing the AMP room, and the Play 5's room grouped together. Here are my questions: - TV Volume control: When I use the remote on the TV
Hey everyone I’m new to the community and have a few questions. 1. I’m going to be getting bowers and Wilkins 603 s3 floorstansing speakers for 2 channel music but it will Also be hooked into my tv. Would the Sonos amp be a good pair with those speakers? 2. During the set up for the amp, does it allow me to set the speakers as “small”?. I know I can manually set the Sonos subwoofers crossover, but can I let the speakers play only the high frequencies or will it force to to play them at full range?
I'm a little surprised pre-orders opened up and nobody is taking about it 🙂 Delivery by Dec 3rd according to Sonos which is awesome. I'm currently using a Beam and two Sonos Ones for rears and two stereo HomePods for music in the living room and bedroom as well as smart speakers for Homekit etc. I was planning on buying a Sonos sub tomorrow since they will be on sale for $599. I'm not sure if I will do that now since I am getting the Amp so soon and can use any sub so there seems to be little advantage to the Sonos sub. The Elacs are on sale right now so I could get tower speakers and sub from them for $669 from Amazon. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07B4WFWZF/ref=ox_sc_act_title_2?smid=ATVPDKIKX0DER&psc=1 https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07DL7XWBZ/ref=ox_sc_act_title_3?smid=ATVPDKIKX0DER&psc=1 I will continue to use the Sonos Ones as rears. Any thoughts on any of that? Any advantage to buying a Sonos sub for the app? I can't think of one. What are other peopl
I have set up the Connect to my WiFi and want to use the optical cable method to connect to the Denon. I want to connect the optical cable to the Digital Audio (IN) 2 Media Player. I connect the cable but no sound comes out of the already wired speakers. Is there a setting I have to change?
I have recently added to my sonos system, but the 2 newest play 2's sound different to the one existing play 1 I had, ie. the older one seems to have a more rounded "Bassier" sound than the 2 newer ones, do they "run in over time" or has the design changed ? all settings have been reset to default etc.... any help/advice appreciated
I really enjoy listening to music through my Sonos speakers but it is not always practical to do so (Sometimes others in the house make a lot of noise, sometimes there are collitions over who wants to listen to what - I was enjoying listening to music in the bedroom then my wife wanted to watch tv.) Also, I live in an apartment so when I want to hear some music at a louder volume, I need to use headphones or do so at a time when teh neighbours are not around. Having a sonos headset that could be connected just like another set of the speakers would be great - They could appear to the controller the same as any other speaker (except for the name and perhaps add them to a room called "roaming") Ideally they would be wireless, over-the-ear style, have the same sonos control buttons on the side (Volume, Play/pause/skip), and possibly be noise cancelling. They could operate just the same as any speaker. For the same sound quality that I am used to with the Sonos range, I would pay
I have got a sonos connect and a Anthem MCA-5 amp buy the amp does seem to have anywhere on it to adjust volume (it is old and heavy) and there is no screen for showing volume. Do I still use variable on the connect or in this case would I use fixed? I tried it one variable but don’t seem to hear anything but I’m worried if I put the connect to fixed that it will blow my speakers or do something else wrong...
I just connected my new Connect Amp to 240 V while the switch was set to 110V (I feel so stupid). I have removed the fuse and ordered a replacement. There is also a yellow disk that is fried which I suspect is a varistor ?. Can anyone confirm this for me and suggest a suitable type as there is nothing written on it. It is yellow and 16mm dia and 3.4 mm thick. It was located in between two large electrolytic caps next to another identical component. Thanks in advance for any ideas
