Movies that uses mp4a.40.2 codecs (when looking att stats for nerds) shows up as Dolby Digital 2.0 on Sonos even though the movies are supposedly to be in 5.1 surround.

Im not that savvy on the technical side but this cant be right, right?

Some movies on Youtube use the ec-3 codec which makes 5.1 surround work fine.

How exactly are you watching the movie? 5.1 audio is only supported on YouTube TV. Only stereo audio is supported on YouTube.

Via the Youtube app on my Samsung TV.

Other movies are working fine, but the codec shows something else.

I’m at work right sow so I can’t type down what the codec is.

“To know if your device supports 5.1 audio, go to “stats for nerds” from the player controls menu. You’ll see ac-3 (381) as audio codec when outputting 5.1 audio.”
