I am being offered a credit to upgrade my 5-year-old Bridge to a Boost. Are there any compelling reasons to do so? Does the Boost offer more features or better performance?

Yes, certainly better performance. There are quite a few older threads around discussing the differences, but since the BOOST was initially released in 2014, those threads are definitely ‘older’.
You can also just wire the Ethernet cable to your other Sonos devices, and get the same benefits. Well, not wired to a surround speaker, or a Subwoofer, but any other speaker is fine.
