According to this article, https://support.sonos.com/s/article/4786?language=en_US

The symfonisk should work with both the S1 and S2 apps. However, I cannot get mine to do so. Even after a reset when I try to add it to a new system via the S1 app I’m told it will only work with the S2 app and it need to download the S2 APP.

I have a gen 1 S5 so can only use the S1 app for a complete system.

The problem was I was trying to add the symfonisk first.

You have to add the S5 first, so now it’s fixed thanks

Hi @User973157, thanks for reaching out to the Sonos Community!

That’s correct, you should be able to add the Symfonisk to either an S1 or an S2 system. Just to confirm, your Play:5 is powered on and connected when you attempt to add the Symfonisk? Do you have any other Sonos speakers in the system, or just the Play:5?

It might be worth rebooting your router (turning it off for about 15 seconds before turning back on), followed by each Sonos device when the WiFi is back online - if you continue to get the same message when trying to add the Symfonisk though, I would recommend getting in touch with our Support Team via either live chat or phone call for some live troubleshooting
