I have a lot of older Sonos Speakers and a couple of newer ones. One newer one is a PORT which I downgraded to make it S1 compatable. Anyway I would now like to make the PORT S2 as I only use it on my HiFi and do not stream it to other devices. So I have managed to remove 2 Play 5s from my S1 app as part of the upgrade process but now I want to put them back. The SOnoS 1 app says I need to update so I cannot. The S2 app says devices incompatable or something. What is the quickest way to get my Port on S2 and all other devices back in S1. I seem to be stuck in a loop at the moment.

Can you confirm what S1 version you are running? Latest version is 11.15.2 on iOS
Do you currently see any of your products in the S1 app?
Edit: Also please confirm the software build for your Sonos speakers under S1

I also edited my post above to ask for the software build installed on the S1 devices which may have crossed with your post as you never answered this part.
An S1 software update would not automatically start to update the devices to the new Sonos app, but get them running on the latest S1 build.
With regards to the Port, I would temporarily power down all S1 devices, leaving the Port powered on.
You should then be able to update the Port by going to Settings > General Settings > System Updates > Check for Updates in the new Sonos app.
I believe your S1 devices should be running build 572263071 if they are on the latest build.
You will need to update them if they are not on this build.
You can then factory reset your two Play:5 devices and add back to your S1 system.
Switched off all S1 devices and managed to coneect the PORT to the S2 app and playing music.
It seems only the play 5s are not S2 compatable so I have everything on S2 now except the Play 5s on S1
