Sonos outdoor speaker repairs

This morning my book of experiences with Sonos opened a new chapter. After I had to learn painfully that Sonos does not offer any repairservice centrally, I visited a licensed Sonos Dealer in the City of Braunschweig Germany. Even there, in a dealership with top noche service for repairs, the skilled dealers technicians refused to even accept to try to repair the Sonos speaker. I am just wondering how Sonos managed to maintain their reputation with such a customer orientation. My question is if anyone has an idea if the is some place where a only 4 year old speaker could t

be a least inspected for a possible repair solution.

Have you checked with Sonos?  Although they may not repair they may offer a replacement at a reduced rate.  Also what speaker is this, you make no mention.  Am slightly intrigued about the book of experiences for a first time poster.  The whole post as a certain artificial writing element to it.

Search for SONOS service. While SONOS doesn’t offer any repair parts or services, there are some independent repair shops in the EU and UK that handle SONOS.

There is a 30% discount offer for replacement. Bust this is not what I expect from a brand which position itself as Premium prices. I believe environmental sustainability is a major issue for Sonos with such culture on top. 
Also I thimk that autorized dealers - from my recent experiece with req for repair service - are not happy with Sonos non-repair policy.

Usually, Sonos requires the non-functioning speaker to be returned to them to qualify for the 30% replacement discount. As I understand it, if they can then repair it, it then gets offered on their “refurbished” scheme. That seems quite “environmentally sustainable” to me. 
 

The “no repair service” has been the case for many years, so dealers should not be surprised by the policy.

Shipping such devices 2 times and and a possible sale of a used device sounds not very promising to me. The business model  of Sonos rather gives the impressin that the environment ist not really valued but sales is the focus. In Germany the has very recently inaugurated even a law that certain cunsumer electric  articles MUST be offered a repair by the manufacturer. To many devices broke simply down just after warranty expired. 
in a fair balance I think that Sonos is facing at least an issue here…

Amd one point I really dont get: IF SONOS really repairs - why is that not on offer for the buyer???

Maybe selfexplaining…

thats even worae for SOnos if that assumption is correct.

I can only speculate, but I suspect that with the business model they’ve adopted, Sonos can look at the reliability and longevity of components used in their products when a large proportion of any failed devices are returned to them for investigation and (where possible) repair. Compiling that kind of reliability data can be very beneficial to any manufacturer. I certainly don’t believe that many Sonos devices fail shortly after the warranty expires, and haven’t seen anything suggesting that on these forums. 
Sonos still offer a warranty on refurbished products, which implies a high degree of confidence that those products will work for a good while to come. They’re using the appropriate spare parts and components rather than any kind of “that should do it” approach that an independent repairer might (or might not, I agree, before you say it😜) use rather than try to source the relevant matching parts. 
Yes there are two shipping journeys, but that would still apply if the repairer was local in each country that Sonos sells to. 
What class of items are the “certain cunsumer electric  articles” that must have in-country repairs, out of curiosity?

There’s no optimal path. Total cost of repairs can be uncomfortably expensive and the repaired unit will likely not support features that are currently “must have”. Plus, the possibility of an age related future failure increases.


So what I read is:

Sonos services are the way they are and you (customer) take it - or leave it. 
My experience for the first time ever in a community group is to receive such comments. 
No one responding who experienced similar problems or found solutions for repairs. 
Maybe something „special“ here with the participants?

Sorry, just telling you the truth.

Lots of interesting laws get passed, watching industry response to them is even more interesting. Will Sonos quit selling in some countries, raise prices for them or something else? I've seen this with another item and the manufacturer stopped sales to that country, didn't hurt profits much as unauthorized resellers took over and sold the same item with no warranty.

My only failures, long ago and not Sonos' fault, were taken care of under the basic warranty so I have no repair advice. I do suggest the extended warranty option for folks that feel it is worth the cost.

Visit some of the sites covering Sonos, you'll see much the same there.

I’m not sure what you were expecting here. We’re all customers, just like you. All having to deal with Sonos support and Sonos’s lack of repair services, just like you. The company does what the company does.

When companies act in a manner I find displeasing, I find another company more aligned with my priorities.

Edit: I want to add that the Sonos hardware problems that I’ve dealt with over the years (very few) have been resolved favorably and to my satisfaction.

Instead of dillydallying around with "quoted" inferences, have a little respect and just state what you are implying in plain words.  Of course what you are implying is silly and completely irrational, considering for some of the respondents, me included, Sonos' would have had to manufacture thousands (or 10s of thousands) of posts over the course of almost two decades or more.  So hiding behind your inference is exactly what allows you to level the accusation without any evidence or proof, right? 

Meh, nothing to see here, folks.  Just another in a long line of not liking the reality of the replies, so reality must be some type of misinformation campaign by Sonos reps masquerading as actual users.  How boring . . .
