Hello, I have lagging problem with my sound Sonos system. Since I installed TIDAL PREMIUM (HIFI LOSELESS HIGH QUALITY AUDIO FLAC) I listen to quality music and since then my sound has not stopped lagging. I also lose random speakers and it comes back after a few seconds especially when I skip or move the music forward or back. I communicated with 2 sonos technical specialist and this is what we did:

-Android update,

-Sonos S2 update,

-Reset router,

-Reset all speakers,

-Use direct ethernet cable to speaker,

-Uninstall apps,

-Play FLAC files alone on my phone (NO TIDAL),

-Disable compressed mode.

→ All this do not solve the problem at all!!

Take note that I have 3th generation sonos speakers. I also have newest genration wifi with 8 antenna mesh router with high speed 450Mbts (real test).

I also have the GALAXY S20 cell phone well updated without battery safe mode…

Both test with TIDAL and FLAC AUDIO FILES on my cell phone create lagging issue on my sonos system. The problem never occur if I use compresse low quality files or sonos station (320kbps) no problem for that.

Why sonos system do not support high quality contain?

How to fix that??

Same here.  using a OnePlus 7 pro.  I can play mp3 files fine but when selecting flac files on my network storage they are just ignored by the Sonos S2 app.  tried different bitrate all below 1536kbps,  16bit and 24bit depths with 44.1 and 48hz sample rates.

none work.  I can use vlc from my computer and vlc on my Phone without issue. just the Sonos app refuses to play them on the speakers yet mp3s will play. looks more likely the Android S2 app is the common denominator.

the App shows the files, adds them to “my Sonos” recently played but in the main play screen it reports no music selected.

I have also change the channel on the wifi to channel number 6.

Did you mange to find a solution?

Just for info the Sonos app is a remote control not a music player.

I play lossless FLAC files from my NAS and stream from Amazon Music HD across a seven zone Sonos system without a hitch.

In the past I did have very occasional problems playing FLAC files stored on my phone.

Your problems are clearly real but Sonos is perfectly capable of playing lossless 16 bir FLAC. See system requirements for exactly what it can and cannot play.
