Sonos connect amp, recognize gen1 and gen2

How do I recognize that the Connect AMP is generation 1, thus compatible only with older App S1, or generation 3, thus compatible with new App, S2?

I thought that with the front panel I would be able to distinguish since the front button on Gen 1 is a Mute while on Gen2 is a pause/play button, Is that right?
Is there any other difference?
Is the model type different?
