i bought 6 sonance ceiling speakers.  installed them in the living/Dining room with a the sonos AMP.  When a play songs with certain frequency i hear vibrating distortion.   Here is my findings

I tested all 6 speakers on the same line and song so that i have a common test.  The results were as follows

3/6 speakers had the vibrating distortion very prevalent

2/6 the sound was there but not as bad

1 had the best quality.

Obviously the quality of these speakers is not the same. I opened a case with SONOS and waiting for their response.   I also recorded the sound so that you can hear the distortion

No happy at all. Has anyone else experience this issue

I guess it’s possible that you may have several faulty speakers, but in my experience one of the difficulties with ceiling speakers is that the quality of sound is very much dependent on the quality of the ceiling! If the ceiling is thin panel (e.g. plasterboard) and not well fixed then the speaker can drive the panel that it’s mounted in up and down - which is likely to make noises that you don’t want it to.

You may be able to check this applying pressure to the speaker’s outer frame while music is playing, as this should very much dampen the vibrations that it can induce in the ceiling itself. If this reduces the distortion then the cause is ~probably~ sympathetic vibrations in the ceiling, and not a fault with the speaker.

The Sonos  ceiling speakers by Sonance let you use TruePlay and would suggest running it to tune the speakers to the room. If you have already done this then try with it turned off.

If you don’t have an iOS device its a good idea to borrow one for an hour.

No thats not it.  I have removed all the speakers from the ceiling and tested them one by one .

I tried it with TruePlay and without.  the problem persists. As I mentioned i tested each speaker out of the ceiling one by one on the same wire, the same song, same amp.  the test output was i mentioned before.  Definitely points to the quality of the speakers.  BTW these speakers are brand new and just installed

3/6 speakers had the vibrating distortion very prevalent

2/6 the sound was there but not as bad

1 did not hear any vibration

If you purchased these through Sonos, I’d recommend calling Sonos and arranging replacements. Or even directly contacting Sonance, since Sonos is merely a reseller of these products.
