Skipping while playing from Music Library has persisted for years & often angered me. For me the fix was finally simple: ethernet cable from desktop (hosting library) to Sonos device.
HDD, SSD or USB attached to router with cable to Sonos would work as well.
Hosting your library on a wirelessly connected device (e.g. laptop) is likely to be unstable.

I am glad to hear that you found a solution to your problem - an unstable WiFi connection on the hosting device can indeed cause Music Library problems.
Please note, however, that the hosting computer should be connected to the router via ethernet, not to the speaker.

It would be possible, ‘though inconvenient, to relocate the router near to the hosting computer. Instead, I connected the hosting computer to the venerable ZP100; it works perfectly.
The ZP100 is connected wirelessly via SonosNet channel 6 to my Connect:Amp which is connected by ethernet to the router.
Skipping stopped, & sound quality (from ZP100) seems to have improved too. Weird but pleasing.
Note that the SONOS LAN ports are 10/100. A very optimistic throughput estimate for a wirelessly connected ZP100 would be in the 30Mbps range. Check to see if your computer is smart enough to use its WiFi connection for the Internet while using its LAN connection for music. (I’m assuming that you have a modern computer and WiFi that is faster than 100Mbps.)
