Good evening.I wanted to ask if it's worth changing my music player. Here are my setup details:Denon RCD M40 connected to Sonos Port. Sonos Port sends audio to:Sonos Beam 2 + Sonos Sub Mini + 2 Sonos One + Marshall Stanmore 2.I want to replace the Denon RCD M40 with a Denon DCD900.Will the sound quality improve?I've heard that Sonos Port limits the quality by digitally re-recording the audio and that it's not worth it.Can you give me any information?Thank you very much!

I think you’ll find the Port provides a gateway between a Sonos environment and a “conventional” system. It does not record or re-record anything.

Since you already own the Port you should know:

The versatile streaming component for your stereo or receiver—

  • Plug in the audio equipment you already own and listen out loud.
  • Stream everything you love using the Sonos app and Apple AirPlay2.
  • Use line-in to connect your turntable, or play music straight from a friend’s phone on your stereo.

Hello again.I'm already playing music CDs through a Denon RCD M40, which connects to the Sonos Port, and the Port connects to the entire Sonos system. My question is, if I upgrade from a Denon RCD M40 to a Denon DCD900, will the music playback improve?Or will the Sonos Port limit the sound improvement, preventing me from achieving any real sound quality improvement?

What difference is there in tne CD playback quality of the two Denon? Is there one you would be able to hear? If you aren't sure provide links to the data sheet on both and see if someone here will look them over.

If you are concerned about quality sound why are you converting the digital CD data to analog, sending it to the Port, to then be converted back to digital, and then played?

Wouldn't it make more sense to rip the CDs to a lossless format and play that directly usi g the Sonos music library?
