After using Sonos S1 for over 10 years, the Bridge finally stopped working properly. It was gradual. Lately my stereo pair (S2 compatible) stopped playing music. Luckily, I had purchased a spare Bridge a few years ago. All components are working properly now, but the new bridge has green and white flashing lights. I haven’t been able to figure out how to stop this. Thanks all!

Here is the LED states FAQ.

Edit: if it were me, I’d not use a BRIDGE at all, but instead just hang the S1 system off the WiFi signal.

Well, I’d upgrade it to S2, but that’s another discussion.

Thanks! I do have excellent fiber optic internet here. Can I just omit the Bridge entirely? I don’t want to spring for a whole new system, as most of my components are only S1 compatible.

Yep. Just enter the network information in the controller, and your system will be quite happy on your WiFi.

Back in the day, when the BRIDGE was released, many routers just couldn’t handle all the connections/data. Things have evolved. ;)

Thanks again, Airgetlam.

The choice you need to make is do you want your components to use your WiFi or Sonosnet (which is what the Bridge was doing)?

Do you have any other Sonos components plugged into Ethernet?

Using Sonosnet v1, that is all the Bridge supports, is usually a poor choice, even the now discontinued Boost was a big improvement and it got so long in tooth Sonos dropped it too.

Even wiring a speaker to get Sonosnet active is not being fully supported with new speakers unable to connect to it.

Really looks like WiFi is the future.

Sucks for me as I have a really nice multipoint-wired Sonosnet setup that I’d love to keep active.

Thanks all. I have now determined that my system works just fine hooked up to the WiFi alone. This gets rid of some headaches. I have several older components which are S1. I’m not willing to spend what it takes to upgrade.

Forgot to say that my internet is fantastic.

It is amazing how little Internet you need to stream music.
