Been trying things all day and this is driving me mad.

I have the Sonos arc hooked up to the LG via the HDMI Arc. I also have a 1TB Sky Q box.

The issue is around the Sky Q sound. In the audio visual settings, the sound for Digital audio optical HDMI sounds better on original vs Dolby Digital. Much fuller and I can’t quite work out why! Thought it would be the other way around and I’ve tried on a bunch of HD channels.

LG Tv settings are as follows;

DTV Audio Setting - Auto

HDMI 4 - Bitstream

Digital Sound Out - Pass Through

eARC - ON

Am I missing something or got something wrong? Any ideas?

Hi @APatel84, thanks for reaching out to the Sonos Community. We appreciate you for letting us know about your concern. Let me help you out with this. I understand that you want to get the DD+ from your SKY Q into Sonos Arc and just to let you know it will depend on the physical source device playing the content and when using external source devices like a gaming console or set-top box, make sure they are set to the same output format as the TV. Most Dolby Atmos audio can be played through HDMI-ARC using the Dolby Digital Plus codec. HDMI-eARC is required to play lossless Dolby Atmos audio using the Dolby TrueHD codec.

Please check with the manufacturer of your device to see if it supports Dolby Atmos. We can also wait for other’s opinions. We and the community are always here to help. If you have any questions, feel free to reach out. We and the community are always here to help.
