Hello,

I have a Playbar+Sub+InCeiling+Amp setup for my TV and love it. I have an open floor plan (8x8 meters) which includes the kitchen and dining/living room. I purchased two more InCeiling speakers with separate Amp as I want to be able to play music in kitchen/dining alone or combined with the TV setup. I am wondering if the setup proposed below would work well in mono. Idea is to hear music when cooking (loud ventilation) and also while sitting at the table.

If not, what else would you propose?

Thanks,

Jessy

That setup is fine, but I’m not sure why you aren’t centering a speaker over the table?  Also, please know that your two new ceiling speakers will be in sync with your existing speakers for music, but will not be in syn for TV audio.

Also, you may want to consider using some of Sonos powered speakers in your kitchen and dining area.  This will allow you to get stereo in each space, as well as separate volume control, while likely being cheaper.  You can get 4 Era 100s at $200 each right now, while a single Amp is $700 before adding passive speakers, speaker wire, installation costs, etc.

Thanks Danny for the quick response.

Unfortunately I cannot center over the table due to light fixture being there already. I chose the InCeling speakers as I want speakers to be completely hidden.

I will do the installation myself as I did for the other pair :)

I’d be thinking rotate the new speakers 90 degrees and a bit closer to the center of the room than the center edge of the island.

You could do them mono but you might find with the positions you’d get decent stereo.

Grouped with the TV system, and surrounds in full mode, you should be able to easily fill the room if you have decent ceiling speakers.

For TV watching they might be far enough from the Playbar the delay/echo isn’t objectionable.

@Stanley_4 thank you for your proposal. Can you confirm it would look like the below drawing? I bought a separate Amp to make sure that TV runs on current setup only. Whenever I will play music in Kitchen/Dining then I will group with TV setup to fill the room with music.

I bought the original Sonance InCeiling 6.5in speakers. Not sure if there is a guidance on how far those speakers provide decent sound when being placed at 2.5meters high ceiling.

Thanks

Jessy

That will get you decent Stereo imaging at both the kitchen and table, probably sound better than mono but let your ears decide.

When grouped with the soundbar and streaming music it should work well too.

The smaller speakers will sound good, the height isn’t that much of an issue but they won’t play as loud as the larger ones. To try it out put the surrounds you have now in Full Mode and try streaming something. If the soundbar is a problem try adjusting volume levels or even throwing a quilt over it for the test.

Great idea, I will try to separate current Amp+Ceiling speakers to see how it sounds :)

Decided, I will go with the stereo setup. You can actually hear a big difference. Best setup would be with 4 speakers but I will just go with the two in middle of the room 👍
