I want to buy 2 sets of Sonos in ceiling speakers can one AMP run each set separately so I can shut one set off when not needed

A Sonos Amp has a single set of speaker posts. If you wanted to ‘turn off’ the second set, you’d need to insert a device in the wiring.

Pity Sonos don't have an AMP with multiple speaker posts.
