Hi,

just purchased era 300 in order to replace SL one mounted on the wall.

since I would like to keep the same position I would like to get feedback on the below wall location:

Distance from the floor  ~2 meters

Distance from the ceiling  ~1 meters

Distance between both era ~3 meters

I understand that the best way is to mount them in upside down.

Any feedback if this should be ok? Any concern I should take in account?

thanks in advance,

thanks for share all this information with minecraft modpure

Hi there,

Here is some feedback on your proposed wall location for your Sonos Era 300 speakers:

  • Distance from the floor: 2 meters is a good height for mounting your speakers. This will help to ensure that the sound is evenly distributed throughout the room.
  • Distance from the ceiling: 1 meter is also a good distance from the ceiling. This will help to prevent the sound from bouncing off the ceiling and creating echoes.
  • Distance between both era: 3 meters is a good distance between your speakers. This will help to create a wide soundstage.
  • Mounting upside down: Mounting your speakers upside down is the best way to do it. This is because the speakers are designed to radiate sound from the top, not the bottom. Mounting them upside down will help to ensure that the sound is evenly distributed throughout the room.

Here are some other things to keep in mind when mounting your speakers:

  • Make sure that the wall is sturdy enough to support the weight of the speakers.
  • Use the included mounting hardware to secure the speakers to the wall.
  • Be careful not to overtighten the screws, as this could damage the speakers.
  • Once the speakers are mounted, use Trueplay to tune the sound to your room.

I hope this feedback is helpful. Please let me know if you have any other questions.

Era 300’s should also be kept some distance from the wall. See https://www.sonos.com/en-us/guides/era300

Why would you mount the Era’s upside down?

upside down - from the link you shared:

  • Mounting the speaker upside down is recommended if the speaker is installed within 2 feet of a ceiling to optimize downfiring sound.

Er… 1 metre is more than 2 feet.

“within 2 feet of a ceiling”

this mean 60cm from the ceiling, right? In my case is ~100cm.

am I missing something?

Right, so there’s a larger gap to the ceiling than 2ft/60cm, and you don’t need to invert the speakers.

thanks for share

OK - I have now the corrected distance of my setup:

Distance from the floor  220 cm

Distance from the ceiling  40 cm

Distance between both era’s  350 cm

This is clear now that I should mount the era 300 in the upside down option.

Now, since I am only 40 cm from the ceiling, is it going to affect the sound quality?

Any thoughts?

In addition, I'm quite afraid to hang the speaker upside down, that is, the two screws are supposed to hold the speaker which is quite heavy? Does anyone have experience with this and can comment?

If you have followed the directions for wall mounting you should be OK. You must secure Era 300 wall mount to a wall stud.

Is there a setting in the app to instruct sonos that you’ve mounted the speaker upside down to correct for the downward audio blast or is this “corrected” through True Play? Has anyone actually done this and how does it sound? I currently have Sonos One’s w/ my Arc & Gen 3 Sub and am seriously contemplating upgrading my One’s to the 300’s but not sure it’s worth the $800+

There is currently no such setting. It is not handled in TruePlay, either.
