I have the PC App: Version 17.2.2 Build 90068190 and iPhone App Build: 83.01.11 - Most of my SONOS hardware is on Version 18.2 (build 94175110) with the exception of the BOOST Version 17.2.4 (build 86675110) and the Guest Playbase Version 17.2.4 (Build 86675110).

Does all of the SONOS hardware have to be at the same version level?

No, it depends on the type of device. Not all my speakers have the same build, depending on age.

I’d certainly recommend retiring the BOOST, however, and hang your Sonos off of your WiFi. Unless you have an extremely old router, say older than 5 years.

Edit…I’m guessing about 5 years…while when the BRIDGE and subsequently the BOOST were common, there were routers that couldn’t handle multiple connections at speeds, it was more common to use SonosNet. It just isn’t necessary any more, and most ‘new’ Sonos devices won’t even connect to SonosNet.

If you are not having any issues with your system and happy with performance, there is no need to change how it connects.

From August 2025, older devices running on S2 are now subject to essential updates only. These include the Boost and Playbase.
