Connection to Sonos Port

What is the best way to connect a Port so I can feed my CD player, turntable and Sonos music into my hi-fi system AND link these sources to other Sonos speakers in the house?

If you have a single Port and several analogue-out sources (e.g. turntable, CD, FM tuner) then probably the best solution would be to place a conventional analogue pre-amp (or integrated amp with pre- and/or tape-out) before the input to the Port.

IIRC, a Tape-out is preferred, rather than a Pre-out, because that gives you full-level line-out (not controlled by the volume control on the pre-amp) so you control the volume solely within the Sonos system.

Note that you won’t be able to listen via an integrated amp at the same time as the Sonos speakers, because of the small delay that Sonos introduced into playback as part of the design of the system.

Thankyou, looks like good advice. I’ll try that configuration, but will have to use the Pre-out, it’s my only option.

A passive switch box might a good option if your turntable has a line-out connection or if you have a phono preamp.

Four in, two out:

Hi, yes, a switch box is under consideration too but that scenario is a bit compromised by the fact the phono pre-amp is built into the integrated amp (Arcam A5) and not standalone.

Have you got personal experience of the Solupeak switch? Recommended?

Thanks

I just picked an example from an Amazon search that had a good rating.

A decent stand-alone phono preamp isn’t too expensive.
