Connecting a single Sonos Amp to two DVC outdoor speakers

Hello,

I searched but couldn't get exact clarification on this specifically.  I have two DVC Episode 8ohm Rock speakers at a new home were moving to.  I have 1 AMP and know that the minimum impedance it can handle is 4ohm.  To maximize the DVC speakers safely with the AMP, what would be the best wiring scenario. Two wires are red/black and two are green/white connected to each speaker.

Thanks!

Each of these speakers connects to left and right channels and behaves as a pair of speakers to the connected amplifier.

As far as the SONOS AMP is concerned, two pairs of 8-Ohm speakers are connected and this is OK. Actually, since you likely have a long length of wire involved, the speaker wire adds a bit of protection. Each speaker presents 8-Ohms plus wire resistance to AMP.

i suggest that you inspect all wire connections associated with the speakers, especially the outdoor connections, for corrosion. It’s a tough world out there.

Thanks Buzz,  to clarify.

I should be connecting the two positive terminals on each speaker and two negative terminals on each speaker together for a single channel (parallel wiring). This would present a 4ohm load as each speaker is a DVC I believe.

Just want to confirm that it should be done that way in lieu of series wiring.

Thank you for the reminder on the connections.  It’s been that way for about 11 years so it will be necessary to confirm no corrosion

No, don’t use series wiring for the DVC versions. One set of wires for each speaker is connected to the AMP left channel and the other set is connected to the right channel. Be sure to match +/- on both speakers and at AMP. I’m assuming that independent 4-conductor wire is running from AMP to each speaker.

Here is the speaker manual.
