i am trying to get the connect gen 1 to connect a speaker which says needs downgrading to S1 but it wont do it 

do i need a line in adaptor before i can continue ?

No that is not necessary.

The Gen 1 Connect can only run S1, sounds like the rest of your gear is S2. Downgrading devices to S1 is one of the features removed from the new app.

For now you’ll need to run a split system, using both apps. If Sonos put back the downgrade feature then you can reconsider your options.


How do I do that ? Can I use the speakers on the play bar or move on a split system ?

You haven’t provided enough detail about what you have, and what you want, for a specific answer.

You have an S1-only device: run the S1 app and create a new Household with that device. (You might find it easier to temporarily power down your existing S2 gear until Setup is done).


hi there again thanks  for trying with me, i don't really understand very much about the system, have been on phone to sonos too ,  i have 2 tv sound bars, a move and two play 1       i am trying to play my old vinyls on a deck, my husband bought me a connect 1, he has since passed away, and i never got it up and running, so now a bit stuck on what to do , i have put it on the S1 app, separate from my S2 app, linked the connect gen 1 to this and the amp also ok, but now i can't downgrade the speaker

 

could i just use the connect 1 and the amp and link up my old wired speaker ( an old speaker with screw in ports on the back only )
