Hi,
I have an old S2 Connect Amp and 2 x 8ohm speakers, i though i was smart so i combined one of the speaker leads from each speaker and so on the connect amp on the speaker output both blacks are connected together and then separete L and R goes to each speaker. The amp plays but cuts at 60% volume. Is this wrong what i have done ? Should i go back to separate black lead to each speaker ?

Yes, you should go back to the recommended setup for connecting speakers. Don’t cross the wires.

There are very few amplifiers out there today where combining the leads is a good idea.
I’d not consider it unless the manufacturer recommends it.
Same for bridging the channels, don’t unless the manufacturer recommends it.
In many units the black terminals are connected together inside an amplifier chassis. In this case connecting black to black or using only one set of external blacks does not accomplish or upset anything. In CONNECT:AMP there are two independent amplifiers, the blacks are not connected together internally, and the amp will get upset if the black terminals are externally connected together or only one black terminal is used.
