changing plugs on power cables

Hi,

I’ve just bought some old 1st gen play 3 and play 5 speakers. The previous owner had cut the plugs off and had wired them up for use in France. The speakers now have no plugs at all. Can I simply wire a standard UK 13 amp plug to the Sonos cable and use that?

Thanks

Check to see if there’s anything on power rating on labels on the speakers. A 3amp or 5amp fuse may be more suited.

You should be able to, yes. The ‘transformer’ in the speaker can handle any input (except for the oldest Sonos products), which should be reflected on the manufacturing label, on the bottom of most devices.

Of course you can, although someone from Sonos might come along and say you have invalidated your warranty which went out the window years ago and not understanding that in the UK you are legally allowed to do quite a lot with your house wiring if competent.

If not competent you can buy complete leads of the Sonos website.

Thanks for the replies. I think you are right - a 5 amp should do it.
