Hi, I recently bought the Pro Ject turntable and connected it to the Sonos Amp and paired it with a nice pair of Martin Logan speakers and I’m using the Sonos Sub Gen 3 as subwoofer and it works flawlessly. Although I’m nostalgic with vinyl records, my kids are nostalgic with CD’s so I went to my storage and pulled out all my CDs and bought a CD player. I connected the Amp to a Duac Audio input switch and VU meter and the turntable works flawlessly, however, the CD player had a slight delay when playing the first song. We miss the first few seconds of the first song making me have to go back and restart it. I have the delay feature to minimum (75ms). Is there something else I can do to make it start from the get go? I’m thinking it’s the sub. Everything, the Amp and the sub are hardwired to my router. Thanks in advance.

What happens when you connect the CD player directly, rather than going through your switch?
Normally speaking, while the 75ms delay shouldn’t be noticeable unless when using another connection / set of speakers (all Sonos analog line ins have this delay, including your turntable), there shouldn’t be any noticeable ‘delay’ when you’ve chosen the line in to play on your Sonos. The 75ms delay has to do with network grouping the input, it isn’t on the start of the input. The source should be playing ‘all’ of the song, with no delay to start.
Same thing. I thought at first it was the switch but when I connect the RCA cables to the Amp and the CD player directly I get the same thing. Happens to the new CD player and an old CD/DVD player I replaced with the new one. I’m thinking that it may be because of the sub? I wish there was a way I could connect the Sub directly to the amp.
The Amp is designed to communicate with the Sonos Sub across a hidden 5Ghz network connection. It shouldn’t be creating any lag at all, but you could double check that by removing the connection between the two devices temporarily, and once you’re done testing, reset it up. Which means both devices need to have their radio/wifi turned on.
The secondary method would be to connect the Sub to your router with an Ethernet cable, and then you’d need to pay the (slight, and normally unnoticeable) extra routing cost.
How are you determining this delay? I thought I understood you to say the beginning of a song was not playing, until you went back and started it a second time. If that’s not the case, please elucidate.
You may want to submit a system diagnostic within 10 minutes of experiencing this problem, and call Sonos Support to discuss it. Don’t post the resulting diagnostic number here, they get sensitive about GDPR.
There may be information included in the diagnostic that will help Sonos pinpoint the issue and help you find a solution.

I have both the Amp and the Sub hardwired to my whole house Ethernet. Most of my Sonos and TVs are hardwired. I wish I could post a short video I made. It’s literally a second or 2 of the beginning of the first song. The turntable doesn’t have that same problem since it detects the instant the needle hits the record.. usually the song hasn’t started yet at that point. Not sure I’m explaining it correctly. It’s a minor nuisance but I’d like the music to begin when the music actually begins, not 1 or 2 seconds after.
Try connecting the Sonos Amp directly to your WiFi signal, then unwire both the Amp and the Sub. Both devices should have their radio/wifi turned on, then test. See if you still have that delay.
I agree that the 1 or 2 second delay should be intolerable. It should not be happening. Thousands of other users have a similar use of the line in, and don’t have this issue. I’m wondering if the delay is being caused by the connection to the router.

Didn’t help. I removed the cat6 cable from both and connected the CD player directly to the amp. Still got the 1-2 second delay on the first song. I’ll send diagnostics to Sonos. It’s a minor problem. All I have to do is restart the CD but I shouldn’t have to.
