I cannot add my sonos connect that I bought in 2017, I followed all the instructions, factory reset, update, hard wired, etc and all I get is an error code 1008

I can’t even find error code 1008 on the Sonos FAQ for error codes. Have you tried to call Sonos Support directly to discuss it?
When you speak directly to the phone folks, there are more options available for them to assist you.
Doing a factory reset was an unfortunate step, it likely erased any data in the error logs that would have helped Sonos track down what the issue is.
You may want to, if possible, submit a system diagnostic before calling, on the offhand chance there has been any new data written to the system since you factory reset the device.
