I am in the middle of a home build and am considering the architectural speakers, amp, and arc for a 65 “ TV. My question is, is there any difference in quality of architectural speakers vs Era 100? The room is approx. 18 x 20 ft.

Hi

Here’s the down and dirty;

Sonos Architectural Speakers by Sonance

  • One Tweeter
  • One Mid Woofer
  • Optimized for Sonos Amp
  • Trueplay compatible
  • No Adjustable EQ

Era 100

  • Two Angled Tweeters
  • One Mid Woofer
  • Trueplay compatible
  • Adjustable EQ

I don’t own any Architectural speakers. However judging from the specs and EQ adjustments I’d go for the Era 100’s. Of course the Architectural speakers will have a cleaner look as there is no power cord, stand or wall mount to contend with. You can learn more just by visiting the appropriate URL on the Sonos website. However, in the end sound quality is in the ears of the listener. 🙂

When considering Architectural speakers there are a lot of offerings other the Sonos/Sonance ones that will work happily with the Sonos Amp. Many are going to be far better sounding but won’t support TruePlay. If your TV needs go beyond a soundbar or the Sonos Architectural speakers consider them as an option too.

Good shopping site, buy from where you get the best deal. These are their top of the line Speaker and Sub offerings but they list quality ones down to $200 each too. Some below that point but not ones I’d buy.

Maybe look at in-wall surrounds too?
