Hello all,

I was just going to send this question to chat but no reps are available. So figured I’ll ask here.

I’ve had my amp and Sonos architectural outdoor speakers for about 3 weeks now and while they sound unreal it doesn’t always start out that way. When I just start playing the outdoor speakers by themselves they are kinda quiet and lacking dynamics, a little thin. This is the case until I group them with a set of speakers inside, then they are nice and full/louder and sound incredible! It wasn’t just a one off thing it always happens.

diagnostic prior to grouping: 1607205154

diagnostics after grouping with my set of 5’s: 1495755821

Diagnostics after ungrouping the fives: 2002266900

and before you ask maybe I’m just hearing the fives I can assure you the the doors and windows between the two speaker sets are closed and I definitely can’t hear the fives. Even with the fives turned down completely.

Ungrouping the fives the outdoor speakers remain to sound great. It only happens when the outdoor speakers are started by themselves.

The outdoor set was bought directly from Sonos, so I know the outdoor speakers are the proper architectural ones.

thanks guys!

Gary

Hi @Guiary

Thanks for your post!

I took a look at the diagnostics, but could not find anything out of the ordinary. Nor can I imagine why this might be happening.

I recommend you get in touch with our technical support team who have tools at their disposal that will allow them to give you advice specific to your Sonos system and what it reports.

I hope this helps.

Just got off the phone with tech support, kinda sucks that the amp and what not is at our cabin so further testing takes a bit of time, but they recommended a factory reset. Don’t know why I didn’t think of that from the start. Regardless I’ll give that a try and then report back to tech support and keep on adding to this journal in case someone else comes across the same or similar problem.

thanks again,

Factory reset the amp and same thing occurs. It’s funny though when grouped with any other speakers the amp and outdoor speakers sound the same, it’s just when grouped with my pair of fives and sub is when the volume bump and increased fullness happens.
Like I mentioned before the fives can be muted and the volume bump on the outdoor speakers happens. Is this a glitch in the software?
hope Sonos’ tech support is open this Monday.

Hi @Guiary

If it were an issue with the software, I think there would be more people reporting the issue, to be honest.

Having said that, I still don’t know what could be causing this behaviour.

Now that you can report back to the support team that a factory reset did not help, I would assume that your case will be escalated to a more experienced technician once you get back in touch - I hope they are able to assist.
