I have a question about the Sonos amp. I have the Sonance Mag 6.1 outdoor speaker system. My question is the volume has to be turned up quite high, like to 60 plus or higher. Is this normal or do I have a problem. I use the Sonos app through Android.

Thank you

I’m not familiar with the Sonance speakers. Does a single Sonos Amp drive them properly? For ‘normal’ installations, the max for a Sonos Amp is four speakers, but Sonance apparently has speakers in their ‘architectural’ line that can accept up to 6 off of a single Sonos Amp.

What is your source of music? What has Sonance said? What does ‘quite high’ mean?

Sonance didn't have a answer for me. Others that have left a review for the Sonance mag 6.1 system have said that the Sonos amp is powerful enough. The volume goes from 0 to 100, and 60 plus seems high for normal setting on volume. I have a Era 300 also, and normally have it set to 20 for volume, it would be extremely deafening in setting 60.

Other than higher numbers resulting in higher output from the speakers, there are no standards. While becoming very loud at low numbers gives the user a sense of “powerful system”, the system is difficult to control at low output. Also, the room size matters. A ‘20’ in a small bathroom might be very loud, but the same speaker out in the yard, running at ‘20’ might be insignificant.

The important points are “is the result loud enough” and “can the system easily be controlled at low output”?
