I just got buy first Sonos Amp and it looks like I am limited to my two main speakers based on the connection on the back of the Amp. So the Base, Midrange and two Tweeters will require another two Amps. Does this sound right?
In a typical speaker pair that is wired to the Amp, each speaker box contains two drive units as a minimum, that do bass, mid range and what a tweeter does.
So no, your post does not sound right.
You can connect four 8 ohm speakers to one Amp:

What type of speakers have different connections for bass, midrange, and tweeters?

In my audiophile days I had my Linn system bi-amped. Disconnect the crossover (the speakers were designed for this option) and use a pre-amp and dual power amps, one to drive the main speakers and one for the tweeters. Was the sound better: yes - to my ears way back then - though not necessarily enough to truly justify the cost!

A lesser/cheaper way was bi wiring using two speaker cable runs from one amp to speakers with the necessary four terminals. Neither made a difference worth the effort. Active speakers like Sonos now use a dedicated amp for each drive unit inside the box with the crossover done upstream of the amps allowing for more control over the final outcome.
But I don’t think the OP is referring to any of this...
