I have an AMP that died in a suspected power surge. I have it halfway disassembled and have good pictures. I have access to multimeter and soldering gun, but have little electronics experience.

is anyone here willing to run me through the at I should be testing or hoping to replace? I’d like to give this a shot before I drop the cash to replace this unit or find a different solution.

Not a lot of repair information here.

Now that it is open I'm not sure how support will react to a request for help.

On unopened units they can sometimes provide a discount code for a replacement ent purchase.

I don’t recommend using a soldering gun when replacing surface mount components. In my preteens I thought a gun was great, but I learned that it is virtually never optimal. I now have a family of soldering irons. I suggest that you obtain a trash PC board and practice dealing with surface mount components before attempting to repair a unit.

Looking at your photos, I suspect that the unit has been chronically overheating.

I don’t think that you’ll find any useful troubleshooting data on this site. Try a broader search for repair discussions.

I appreciate you both. Thanks! I’m certainly willing to play and learn before I attempt a repair. Maybe I can find a local hobbyist or electronic shop to take a swing at it. If anyone sees this and knows of a shop in DC/Baltimore, please share!

Shop hourly rates are likely to be over $100 per hour, maybe more in that neighborhood.

Even just a good temperature controlled soldering solution is going to be more than a used device on ebay or the like.
