Anyone else having problems connecting directly through airplay now. I was ok until last week. But now I only be able to play through the Sonos app rather than through music - airplay on my phone?

Make sure the speaker you want to Airplay to shows in the Sonos App. If not power cycle your device and check again.
Also, since Airplay piggy backs over your WiFi make sure your network is up and stable. You might power cycle your router just for good measure.
