I recently purchased the in line 3.5mm headphone to usb-c adaptor so could connect my headphones to the Apple 16 iPhone. However, it does not work. The sound just plays on the phone. Have I purchased the wrong adaptor

That adapter works by taking the 3.5 mm signal, and transfers it to USB-C, and not the other way around (a USB-C signal to 3.5 mm signal). I’m afraid you may have purchased the wrong adapter.

Sennheiser ie80s . Connection 35 mm to adaptor and adaptor to iPhone. When I play music, it just plays on the phone. If I use the Apple usb-c adaptor it works
