Recently, I wanted to change out the three Sonance amps for my whole home audio system, which i run with two sonos ports. I would have to purchase 4 sonos amps to make this happen. I started with one to check it out, and unfortunately there is not fixed volume limit.

I understand I can adjust it in the app, but since there are other people in the home, it is much easier to use the volume control in each room. We have both fixed and app drivien speakers here so you can see the issue.

I am hoping you add this feature to the amps so down the road I can switch to all Sonos Amps.

For now, Ill have to repurchase Sonance amps until this feature is added.

Does anyone know if this will be added to the software?

Hello @mmmbeer, welcome to the Sonos Community!

Fixed output is only available for the Sonos Port and Sonos Connect, as they are the only products with Line-Out.

I am confused about the feature you would like to be added in the Sonos App. Can you please clarify?

I would guess that the OP has in-room Sonance volume controls such as the VC30R and VC60R. These are simple devices that sit between amp output and speakers and simply add a resistance before the speaker.

I don’t think the problem is fixable with Sonos Amps, because Sonos has committed to all control being via the app. If (for example) someone turns down the volume in a room with the room control, there is nothing you can do in the app to reverse that. So you cannot realistically mix app and room-based control together.

A further problem is that the Sonance products for residential use only seem to be rated at 30W or 60W - these are not sufficiently highly power rated for use with a Sonos Amp set at high volume.

If the OP wants to retain the in-room controllers, it’s probably simplest just to go back to using Sonance amps, accepting that there will be no control of volume in those rooms within the Sonos app.

Thank you, this answered my question. Ill look into new sonance amps.
