I have a Sonos Connect and AudioEngine A5+ powered active speakers. I'd like to connect a phonograph turntable. Does the turntable need to have a pre-amp built in? Can it work with or without pre-amp?

Part II - I want to put a CD player and my turntable on a switcher so I can choose my input. Does the CD player need a pre-amp?

You do need a pre-amp, it doesn't have to be built in. If you connect the turntable without a pre-amp in line, you might not be able to hear anything, or, if you turn it up all the way, you won't be happy with what you're hearing.

No, the CD player is already at what is known as "line-level", so it does not need a pre-amp.
