Hi there, I have a pair of Play:1s in my living room, and I'm already very impressed with their sound. Nevertheless I'm still planning to add a SUB soon. I'm interested to know, will the addition of a SUB make the Play:1s adjust their frequency responses (i.e. raise their HPF cutoff frequencies) because the sub means they no longer need to extend so low?

Yes. the crossover is done as part of the bonding process. You have to live with the crossover Sonos decides works best, and I have to say they seem to have got it right.

Don't forget to run Trueplay if you haven't and then run again when you ad the Sub.
