I have simple setup where my Sony TV is connected to a set of Klipsch speakers as the main audio output, and I also have an Amp which is connected to the speakers.
I noticed that when I listen to Spotify on the tv/speakers, the sound is much louder and clearer than if I played it directly from the app and amp.
Does anyone know why? This is puzzling me since if anything I should expect better quality from the amp. TIA!
I’m puzzled. Are you saying the same pair of speakers are directly connected to a tv output and to your Sonos Amp? what is “the main tv output”?
What are the sources of the Spotify audio when you play via the tv, and what when you play via the Amp?
As far as volume and “clarity” is concerned, there are no “standard” audio levels, so the signal to/from the tv may be sent at a higher gain than the source to the Amp, but you do have a volume control for both setups. Clarity can sometimes be confused when listening at different volumes.
Most likely your Sony TV is adding DSP like loudness or EQ, making Spotify sound clearer and louder. Your amp is giving a flatter, unprocessed signal, so it feels less full.
Having two amplifiers connected together is asking for burned output components.
As suggested, set both sources to as unprocessed signal as possible and then carefully match the volumes, best you can do to get a reasonable comparison.
