Maybe a daft question but my new (black) Port only seems to let me use my wi-fi to connect, not the Sonos Channels my old white Port allowed.

My Port is right next to a wi-fi booster, wired to a turntable, and two Play 1s (hardly the Sonos way) but the sound is still glitchy. I'm running out of ideas and patience setting this up over and over.

Do you have any SONOS units wired to the network? PORT can use 5GHz.

Sometimes there is mutual interference if wireless units are physically too close to other wireless units.

Hi @MarkSk, by “Sonos Channels” do you mean the old Sonos-specific wireless called SonosNet? The Port does support SonosNet, tho’ it is not recommended. That said, if you are already using SonosNet for the Play 1s you might as well give it a try.

Does your nearby WiFi Extender have a wired Ethernet port? If yes, I’d try running an Ethernet cable from the WiFi Extender to the Port as your first experiment.

Thanks @press250 the wi-fi extender does have two ethernet ports and they make little difference TBH! One thing I may try is to up the latency to 2000ms. I have given up using Sonos with the TV so the delay no longer matters.

How are the Play:1’s connected? WiFi? Ethernet?

@Ian_S one Play 1 is wired from the Port. The other is wireless 6ft away with no obstacles. The wi-fi booster is 4ft from the Port.

@buzz interesting - they are close, but I thought that would help improve connectivity and allow wiring when I gave up having wireless speakers (or eBaying it all)

What happens when you unplug the Play:1 from the Port and reboot it?

How did you connect the original white Connect ?
