Two speakers Sonos Play:1 bought late 2017

how long do we expect them to last?? First speaker ‘died ‘ a few months ago and now 2nd speaker not working as well?
Is this common problem

how long should they last??

My older Play 1s are still working well at one of the kid's houses. They never gave any trouble here and the only special treatment they get is a quality surge suppressor.

How did the first die?

What is the second one doing now?

I’ve got 7 of them, dating back to 2014 or 2015, I think. Not one of them has failed. And I don’t use power filters, although where I am now, it may be wise.

Just stopped working both of them the same flashing light coming up red

so disappointed because they haven’t been moved around or abused on any way :(

Sounds odd. You haven’t turned off the radio/wifi on the Ray, have you? That’s how they connect to a Sonos soundbar.

In general, I’d recommend that you call Sonos Support to discuss it.

When you speak directly to the Support staff, they have tools at their disposal that will allow them to give you advice specific to your network and Sonos system.

edit: the first paragraph isn’t valid to this thread…however, everything after that is.

For what it’s worth, birth my Era 100s, which are set up as surrounds for a Sonos Arc are working fine.

edit: this response is to the wrong thread, apologies.

Thank you

yes I contacted them last time when the first one died … they suggested after I tried all their actions, it was just broken and finished. This one has gone the same way

Electronics do fail, occasionally, but to have both go so close together suggests poor power, from the plug. Hard to be certain, of course, but given I’ve not had any issues at all, that would be my guess.

Look at the serial numbers. Were they produced in the same month? I expect them to last longer, but it’s possible that there was some brief, unfortunate condition on the production line.

We also cannot rule out a condition in your location, such as a nearby lightning strike that damaged both units — setting them up for premature failure. Were the units wired or wireless? Have you attempted to operate the units while wired to the network?  While wired to the network are the network status lights active?

Flashing red should be solvable, check the codes/colors here to see if there is another possibility.
