Hoping for some advice please. My nephew signed into my Sonos Ray and now it thinks he is the main account holder and won't let me update or adjust volume.
He can't remember the details he used…
Factory reset my only option?
Thank you for reading.

If he is recalcitrant to transfer it back to you, using the data in
then yes, a factory reset should be done, but it is important to note, this sets it back to when it came out of the box brand new (just with potentially newer software). It will erase all of any ‘stored’ information.

Factory Reset seems to be your only option. Just FYI, your nephew did more than just randomly sign-in to your Sonos. He made need a trip to the “Wood Shed” 😂

I don't really understand the 'wood shed' bit, he said it was the only way he could get it to play and link to his phone.

“Wood shed” in American English, is a reference (old) to taking one out to the wood shed for a beating, so their cries won’t be heard in the main house. Not as common in other places.
As a note, if he was using Bluetooth or AirPlay 2, he should have been able to connect with zero issues. Connecting with the Sonos controller is slightly more, but not significantly. He’d need to be connected on your WiFi, and then he’d have access. Things become slightly more challenging if the Sonos is no longer on your WiFi, but I’d have expected he would check with you before making wholesale changes. Then again, I’m no teenager, either ;)
Guest access: This controls whether devices connected to the same WiFi network as your Sonos system can control playback, volume, and grouping as guests without access to administrative features.
