Question

Random Volume Increase

Since the most recent firmware update and app update (Android) I had my music I was listening to on Amazon music go from fairly quiet levels to around 46 which made it very loud. I am not sure if this is an app or firmware issue. But this is very annoying and makes me not want to listen to music in fear it's going to get way too loud with my kids in the room.

It has also randomly just started playing music when none was playing.

I am not sure if it has anything to do with the lock screen controls in the app being on? I turned them off. But curious if this is happening to anyone else.

This on my Arc Ultra with Era 100 surrounds and sub gen 4

That is usually some other system changing the volume. The easy fix is to wait for it to happen, quickly submit a diagnostic (10 minutes at most, less is better) and when you have time call Sonos to see what sent the change-volume command.

It appears it is a glitch with the android app. It happened again today and the volume increased while I was on a phone call and a notification came in. I heard the ding in my ear and immediately the music I had playing got really loud.

I hope you ‘captured’ it by submitting a diagnostic within 10 minutes, as suggested by @Stanley_4 . You can then call in and refer to that diagnostic submission at your leisure.

I didn't. I'm not sure how to do that in the app. I will have to take a look and figure that out and catch it next time it happens.

Under the user section, Help Center.

Note the number, probably not needed but it can speed things up.

Here is the FAQ, which wasn’t linked in the original reply.

Well this happened again last night. I was able to send the diagnostic. But I also noticed a notification on my phone for my Dryer cycle being finished. It then clicked that I had a Home Assistant automation to announce on my Era 100 (before I added it as a rear to the Arc Ultra) that the dryer was done. It took a snapshot of the device and then would raise the volume to 50 for the announcement so we could hear it, and then would restore from the snapshot to the previous volume level and audio playing.

Well when I added the arc the media players for the announcement got deleted, so I added the Arc, and both Era 100’s. Well I didn’t change the snapshot and restore device to the Arc. So this is what was causing my volume increase.

I feel so stupid, but it just goes to show how automations can be great but can easily cause issues and make things hard to track down.
