Has your taste in music changed since getting a good speaker setup?

This is something I didn't expect.

Before I upgraded my setup, I mostly listened to playlists in the background. Since getting my Sonos speakers, I've started going back to albums I hadn't listened to in years, and I'm noticing little details that I completely missed before.

It's even changed the kind of music I put on. Some songs that never stood out with earbuds suddenly sound amazing through decent speakers.

Glad you’re enjoying your Sonos.

It’s always the case that one will notice more details with decent speakers especially so versus low-end earbuds. I say low-end earbuds as some are quite good compared to low-end speakers.

To your question…my taste in music hasn’t changed. Although my smooth jazz collection has possibly surpassed the other genres I listen to.

For me Sonos was a major downgrade, not an upgrade. The reason was space and convenience, with the spouse being able to use the Sonos system.

I've adjusted well to Sonos, Play 5s and Subs helped that a lot. Still occasionally miss my bigger systems sound but have no space for them.

My newish Era-300s are a big plus, wouldn't have been able to do Atmos, that I truely enjoy, with the old gear.

Same here.  I miss my Proceed surround with SACD.  Speakers were large and the setup was complex.  Had to downsize when we moved.  Now Dolby Atmos replaces SACD.  That’s why I went with Sonos.  Sonos was the easiest most WAF system I could find for Atmos.  Just wish Sonos would do something to make Atmos gapless glitch free.

My music taste has never changed.  It has been modern orchestral since I was 8 years old.  Back in those days it was three chord rock n’ roll vs Shostakovich etc.  Who do you think is gonna’ win that battle.

Same. Sonos was a step down. But necessary. My tastes haven’t changed due to listening on Sonos.
