Just gave a friend of mine a brand new Sonos Move that I’ve had in its box for these last few years and as she has an Amazon Prime subscription I setup Amazon along with Absolute Radio and Global Player to get her started!
Not content (see what I did there) with that she wanted to know if I could attach my own music library which consists of 12,500 songs ripped from my CD collection so first of all I thought no problem as her EE SH35A router has a USB port along with 4 RJ45 ports.
So I plugged in a 64GB USB drive that is my library backup as proof of concept but when I go into her router admin pages I see no mention of USB or file sharing.
A little bit of research seems to indicate the USB port on this particular router provided power only which seems very short-sighted to me as all of the routers I have used over the years that had a USB port could be used for file sharing.
So Plan B is to attach a NAS of some sort but I would like to ask if anybody has any recommendations for a small, cheap NAS Lite ie. it doesn’t have to have any other features such as Synology, QNAP etc. as she would never use it.
So bearing that in mind does anybody have any small, cheap. powered by USB drive recommendations please?
