Autoplay with turntable to port to five

Hi!

i have my turntable → sonos port → five. I am looking to see if there is way to get autoplay to work on source level 8.

My thinking is that as long as the turntable is always connected to the port, the port should send a signal to the five as soon as the turntable sends signal to the port, without me having to manually change input in Sonos app to the five.

Has anyone got this to work and can help me out?

Thanks!

No clever settings here. Using a Pro-Ject Debut Carbon Sonos Ed. (Piano). It has a built-in phono pre-amp.

Port

Line-In: connected (not on or playing right now)
Source Level: Level 8
Audio Delay:  2000 ms
Autoplay:
    Autoplay Room: Family Room
    Include Grouped Rooms: On
    Use Autoplay Volume: Off

The volume in that room is usually where we want it.

As a first step, does your turntable include a line level output (often a switch on the chassis, or an external powered pre-amp)?

That is the way it should work. It works like that here, but to a pair of Ones instead of a Five. In the Port settings Autoplay → Autoplay Room set to the destination.

Thank you for your quick replies. I have a preamp and I also have turned on autoplay with the correct destination.

To be clear, the autoplay does work if I adjust the line in level to level 3, but does not work at my desired level 8. From what I understand level 8 this causes the signal to be too weak to activate the autoplay, but I was hoping that having the port in the middle would mitigate this issue by maybe using some clever settings.

Thank you so much. I need to have include grouped rooms on. Problem fixed!
