Adding Music Library to new Mac Neo after using a Macbook Pro

I’ve just changed from a 2015 Macbook Pro to a Macbook Neo and can’t for the life of me get my Music Library added. My Sonos products 2 x Play1 are old. I’ve made sure the library file is shared and SMB file sharing is on (is this correct for older Sonos kit?). The library shows as a shared file in Finder.

I get two errors depending on what I try; one saying file is no longer available (most commonly) and the other access denied, check userid and password. The file name I’m pointing to is //computer name/Music where computer name is my one.

I’ve tried the desktop and an iphone to add the library. When entering userid I’ve used the apple login userid and password of the laptop.

Also I’ve been selecting ‘Networked Device’ which I believe is correct.

If this isn’t due to a technology divide due to a new laptop and old Sonos kit, it’s probably a very simple fix….let’s hope it’s the latter.

And I’d likely call Sonos Support to discuss it, there are likely very few Neo users here in this forum, yet, and much more likely that Sonos folks will be able to read error logs that we don’t have access to.

When you speak directly to the Support staff, they have tools at their disposal that will allow them to give you advice specific to your network and Sonos system.

If you are on S1 software you need to enable SMB v1.

Which  S1 or S2 are you on, that will help Apple folks give a better answer.

Thanks both for those replies and I will contact Sonos.

And Play:1s?

You probably did this, but just in case:

Share your macOS music folder with Sonos
